LGR - Hot Wheels: Crash!

https://youtu.be/NIFEXCGTPhg

Back with another LGR late nineties PC game retrospective, woo! I needed a topic I could cover relatively quickly, being quite low on time this week due to a whole bunch of ongoing life things. All positive things, thankfully, but time-consuming things nonetheless. And I've been wanting to cover Crash! for like seven or eight years now so hey, why not now?

Hope y'all enjoy! It's a really simple review for a really simple game, so y'know. Nothing groundbreaking. Just chill '90s vibes πŸ‘

If all goes well I'll be back next time with a more substantial computery topic, possibly a build video if that goes according to plan. (And it rarely does, ha.) Ah well even that falls all apart I'm having fun, so I hope y'all are too. Have a good week, folks!

Ooooh, that looks nice. Hadn't seen it yet.

Pablo Rodriguez

Ooh, imagine a game like this but with Red Faction physics. On that note, have you seen this? Haven't played it yet but it looks fantastic! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1428100/Instruments_of_Destruction/

LGR

Yes, Mattel was always quick to cheap out on the secondary releases after the initial print run. I remember seeing it sold even as a CD jewel case only, not even in a box after a while!

LGR

That would be fantastic

LGR

I've actually covered Chex Quest, which is *THE* cereal box game :)

LGR

I was more into Turbo Racing myself back in the day, but seeing this - yeah, I missed out...

James Cheese

This looked awesome! Why not do a review of cereal box pc games! haha

I still have this game, I found out later that it was sealed. I still remember playing the demo for Crash a lot with one of those Planet Hot wheels cd's

I do wonder where the software tried to connect to for downloading the extra maps. I'm so curious, in fact, that I'm going to see if I can find a URL or IP address in the game's code somewhere, then see if that is on the Wayback Machine. Wouldn't that be incredible?

I was probably 14 when this game came out and, while I never had it, I did (and still do) have Stunt Racer and remember thinking these games were a cool way to spend 20 minutes, once. Now excuse me, I'm going to install Stunt Racer on my 98SE machine and play it for the only time this century.

CRAP. I'll fix that, thanks!

LGR

Nice, another childhood game of mine. A bit underwhelming for today, but 9 year old me back then loved blowing up stuff with cars. I must have had a later budget release as I didn't get that "mousepad" or truck with it.

Yoshizard64

Hey just a heads up, at 1:40 you say "number 4" car but the vehicle shown is number 44 :)

Peter Metzger

Being used to the likes of Burnout and Red Faction: Guerrilla, the destruction in this game is a bit on the disappointing side these days, but I would have loved it back in the day.

Pablo Rodriguez

Thank you for the video, Clint, and many greetings from Germany. πŸ‘

Hehe, reverse Incredible Machine... That's a good way to put it!

LGR

Was expecting a kiddiefied Carmageddon, but a reverse Incredible Machine (somewhat) is admittedly more interesting! Neat!

Valora Inverse

Love the idea, but having playing a fair amount of Burnout this is a touch underwhelming ngl

Hernando Heilbron

Thanks for the kind words, Michael! I wish these types of videos kept the lights on, so to speak, but I do really enjoy covering these obscure little titles from the past when I can. Glad she enjoyed the mousepad bit too :)

LGR

My partner has never really gotten into your videos, however the mouse mat section made her literally do a spit take due to laughing. Awesome video as always. I do love the more complicated videos, but this really is your bread and butter. You find and cover some of the best lesser known pc games. As always, please keep making the content you want to make and in a way that let's you live and enjoy your life. You've dedicated so many years to making videos to amuse and bring happiness into people's lives. So please, don't stress when you need to focus on yourself
