I did get one of these kits (I think it had something like 40 games) for Christmas, and I'm pretty sure there's a videotape of me opening it and then running and jumping around the house out of excitement.

I think I may have had this! But it's possible my local computer store unboxed and installed it for me. I was but a little kid at the time. What a joy to see this BNIB, but also to hear you get hyped up about it!

I noticed in one of the ads for these bundles, it said that every bundle came with a copy of Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego?, but I noticed this bundle didn't come with it. Was there a voucher or a rebate?

Too bad it installs the Voyetra SuperSAPI driver in Windows, instead of Yamaha's OPL3 driver (yes, it existed, and it made OPL3 sound cards sound glorious in Windows 3.1x).

My mom visited the USA in 1992, San-Francisco to be precise and came home with one of those kits, though, mine was a 1x caddy loader and a sound blaster pro I think it was :) and no speakers. It came bundled with the games Loom and 7'th guest.

I didn’t realize that I had a very similar set until I watched the video I upgraded my Pony (IBM Clone) 486 with the same speakers and CD-ROM drive. I always thought I had kept my Original Sound Blaster that I had stolen from my dad’s 286, but I definitely had the SB16 with the creative drive interface. My software was much more sparse. I believe just the encyclopedia and one other title. I still have the speakers.

Ooohhh Emmm. Gee. This brought back some crazy memories! When I was like 15 (circa 95), I saved up for MONTHS every dime I had to buy this exact same set. And I remember the shear joy it brought me. I think I only had a 386 at the time, but being able to run the "talkie" versions of LucasArts games like Sam 'n Max or Rebel Assault was just so amazing to me at the time. I had those speakers for quite a long while too; at least into college years for sure. Amazing find this many years later. Many many thanks to the person who found this gem and to allowing us all to experience this unboxing again!! Great stuff!!

Such a great trip down memory lane, I really do miss the days when having a CD Rom drive at home was an event, and having a soundcard was also a really flash thing to have on your PC. Man great times :)

Oh man, our family had gotten a set just like this for our IBM PS/1 Consultant 486SX that we had to travel to another city to go get. I remember it came with Sim City 2000 in the bundle though, so I've been looking for that bundle for years.

Thanks Clint!, I think this is the exact same one I installed on my Compaq Prolinea 486 dx33 back in the day, I upgraded the heck out of that poor thing with 2 hdds, the aforementioned sound card and cd, and a 486 dx4 100... Good times!
