According to the ad agency, the idea isn't to make money directly, but rather to "turn customers into fans." That is, endear the people that are already buying things from them to the brand, and in turn they form a kind of loyalty towards the company.

What I don't get is how does it make money for the developer?

Chex Quest is better in every way, that game was awesome.

How do you feel about this game in comparison to Chex Quest?

Speaking of oddly specific simulators: "Baby-proofing the House Simulator" apparently exists. <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=566597674" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=566597674</a>

This really got me thinking how far down the road of oddly specific simulators you could go.
I started to envision a "Cat Ownership Simulator", where your success is measured by your cat, with his/her cat mind, full general disdain for humankind despite their need for food, poop sand, and belly rubs. But that's not specific enough. "Cat Ownership While Having a Job and Friends Simulator" where you need to tend to your own every day needs and socialise, which OF COURSE interferes with kitty's requirements. Add Rift support, and it'd be like actually owning a cat, WITH all the unpleasant business that goes along with it.
Anyway, have a fantastic Christmas dude! :)

Having spent a good ~3 years of my life coding up mobile things for ad agencies, I won't lie that the nature of this made me squirm in my chair as I was watching it. I guess if one's aware that it's trying to sell you it, it's not the end of the world, but I don't know to be honest… <shudders/>
Anyway, Merry Christmas man! Hoping you have a wonderful holiday too :)

It's a way of thinking that appeals for sure, even if the cynical side of me sees exactly what they're doing :)

I thought this would be a game that would take itself too seriously, but I am pleasantly surprised that rather, it is highly inspired by Goat Simulator. This seems like something great for stress relief, especially for those who work retail that time of year, haha. I worked retail myself briefly, and even if it wasn't 8 years like you, I totally agree about some people just being awful and/or stupid, especially around the holiday shopping season. I can't even imagine doing that for 8 years! You are a trooper, good sir.

Yeah, I have to say that a silly viral game is better advertising for me than anything else. A lot of the ads on YouTube and TV that are supposedly "targeted" to me are just annoying and irrelevant to me. Show me a derpy game or food and you'll have my attention XD
