LGR - Fallout - PC Game Review

I must be honest, I wanted to play this again to hype myself up even more for Fallout 4. But hey, at least you all get a sweet video out of it!

RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON!

I actually just reinstalled this on my laptop to play again before FO4 drops. So glad to finally see a full review of this here.

I've always wondered about checking out this and FO2 - as I've tried (and failed repeatedly) to get into 3, despite a lot of people I respect loving the crap out of it - especially when I missed out on this on its original release. Great review - as it certainly makes me want to grab it off GOG and give it a whirl. But then there's Wasteland as well. Too many darn post-apocalyptic RPGs… ;)

Damn it! Right now there is a copy of Fallout on ebay, but it's missing a reference card and its corners are quite worn out... I know, I must be crazy expecting mint condition, but then again I was lucky enough to find the second one almost intact soo... God of collectors, please, I humbly beg Thee - let me not regret passing on that one.

The tedium of navigation and combat really kill FO1 and 2 for me. Which sucks, because I love every other aspect. I just can't get past it. New Vegas has the supreme meta-game for me, though I enjoyed the setting of FO3 the most. Pumped as hell for FO4. Even starting to think up all the cheesy crap I'm gonna build in my town-a-ma-jig.

Smahed the like button the instant I saw Fallout. Smashed the like button AGAIN like a maniac the instant I saw X-COM being mentionned. Such a classic game. Can't wait XCOM 2 ! Arghh ! :) Also I'm glad to play as a Vault Dweller in Fallout, but not as a Depth Dweller... ;-)

was wondering when you'd do a fallout vid :) Probably my favourite franchise too.

I was going to mention the Fallout Anthology release. I'll probably pick it up at some point because I've wanted to get into the series, having never played it. I've watched playthroughs of all of them but 2. Though I've never played them, I appreciate them.

I prefer Fallout 2 over 1 as it improved the heck out of the engine and had more content and a more wild tone to it that not even Fallout 3 or New Vegas could match (although New Vegas came close). Still, solid game :)

One of the best of the best! I beat this twice back in 1999! It was very SPECIAL! They don't make games that "feel" like this anymore.

... I should have expected that response. lol

EA. EA never changes.

LGR

I love that EA logo with the middle finger. It's still relevant today, too! :D

It's definitely grown on me over the years! I got into the series with Fallout 3, but once I finally sat down with the originals they just pulled me in for good

LGR

Me too, argh!

I've read that about Jackson as well, but the folks at Interplay say that had nothing to do with it and it was actually about money! Conflicting stories are fun :)

Long time GURPS player (Still going strong and is in 4th edition with new books every now and then) The rumour goes that Steve Jackson who's been in the RPG making circuit since times when Gary Gygax made D&D got cold feet when he saw the levels of violence in Fallout. Pen and paper RPGs at the time, and times before, had a bad (and false) reputation for corrupting youth and being too violent. Video games didn't have it much better so that might've been a leading decision on his part. The system was already quite well implemented going by screens and old gameplay footage. Also, for fun and because I have a raccoon avatar, they were gonna have little talking raccoon mutants http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/S'Lanter

War. War never changes. So hyped for FO4.

Excellent! Been waiting for this one a while. Honestly didn't think it would be your kind of game.
