LGR - Cities: Skylines After Dark Review

No need for the political jabs.

Michael Hogan

I really need to go and put some more time into Skylines in general, and this really looks like a great addition. Got to give them props for supporting it well (and yeah, $15 totally sounds like a fair price for what they've added to be honest).

Rob Caporetto

I was just happy to give my money to such a great company but overall I've loved the expansion!

Ah I was thinking Youtube had something against me as Cities is one of the games I also love (And purchase after seeing yourself and Nerd Cubed play it!)

Well, after doing everything besides cutting the plastic rivets and disassembling the whole thing I am pretty sure that the problem is a bad trace, as the affected keys all connect back to the same trace. I went so far as to soak the inside of the board in distilled water to clean out any crap that might have accumulated. No improvement. I could cut the whole thing open and repair the trace with conductive ink, and then bolt it back together (known as the bolt mod), but since it's not even a real IBM keyboard, I think I'll just put it in my "someday" project pile.

Damn, I didn't know they added so much! def worth the $15! great video.

I asked you the other day for advice on a mechanical keyboard, and I ordered one... it's on its way. However today at a garage sale I picked up a UNICOMP model M clone for a dollar. It's got a membrane and buckling springs... unfortunately two strips of keys don't work :C 4rfv and 5tgb don't do anything. I tried taking it apart, but I can't fix it. Do you know anything about that stuff Clint?

It should be fixed and viewable now!

LGR

There are a number of improvements to the simulation, yes. But it still has its quirks and things needing attention, though it's a far cry from what it was on launch.

LGR

hmm I can't view this, get a message saying "We're processing this video. Check back later."

Sounded to me like there was no improvement in actually simulation or did citizen stop to move directly next to a chemical plant to than get sick of it, while when they work at it they don't get sick.

good vid

Hmmm, good thinking. I think I may just start a new city after getting some more tips on how to make a city work, but I guess it depends on what parts of the gameplay I should improve on. I certainly made plenty of mistakes along the way with my first city (though it's not a complete failure!) and it would be nice to start over, especially with this expansion in mind. I just wanted to learn on my own first :)

Very easy to add this new stuff to your existing city. Though you do miss out on unlocking the new things gradually, so it's a fair amount to wade through if your city is far along!

LGR

Ahh man! So much to do now... and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of the original game! I've been playing my city on and off for 2-3 weeks and I am almost through all the milestones with a great majority of the unlockables unlocked, but I feel like there is so much I still haven't tried! I was kind of relearning city builders, which I haven't seriously played since I was a kid with SimCity 2000 and 3000. Would you recommend starting a new city for the After Dark stuff, or is it not that hard to get this new stuff implemented in a previously made town? Either way, I bought the expansion the day it came out - 15 dollars seems amazing for games of this quality these days, even if it's just an expansion!
