Do I HATE The Sims?

Well this was unplanned and totally off the cuff, but it seems to be getting a great response already. Lemme know what you think!

Do I HATE The Sims?

Comments

Eh, I always felt you liked the Sims, never got the impression that you hated the game. I, on the other hand, can't stand the Sims. Sim City 2000 though, now that's a game!

Criticism is not negativity- excellent said. I do agree with most ppl here. Games are becoming coin farms. All of them. I want a simple offline game I can play on my without worrying about Sharing, Competition, Buying stuff. Miss the early 2000's man!

Cynicism is fine my good man/women/transgender/ whichever you are! I agree, with lgr about over-saturation, at first with the sims 4 I was like, "okay good, they put everything I personally cared about back in free updates." (pools,ghosts, etc), I bought the gamepack and first stuff pack, but then, 3 more came out and I was like. "what the hell EA at least combine them" Im surprised anyone could think he "hated" the sims. Ive been watching him for ages, and I NEVER got that impression. In fact, it was extremely clear to me in the beginning (especially that first sims 3 video) that he is obsessed with it.

I never got the idea that you disliked it. You didn't the price but no one has that much money. So keep at it the way you have been. Honesty is better than gushy complements.

Holy banana, you had a lot of your chest! Look man, it's your channel, your passion. Do whatever you want!

I have yet to buy the sims 4, my daughters both want it but what annoys me is that I have to sign them up for origin accounts, which means managing their passwords, logging them in, etc. Why can't I just buy the game on dvd, install it and let them play? My kids are young and I don't want the multiplayer functionality.

It feels rather strange to me how people would assume you hated the series. I've known for quite a long time you really love the series. Though you made a really good point about how it's going and I do honestly agree with you. I can imagine it'd cost a lot of time and money just to get every pack they offer for reviews. Though keep up the great work you do in general, the way you review is what many like myself really love, especially for your honesty. :)

Well. I hadn't actually watched the entire video when I posted the previous comment. And that was a mistake, I didn't make any points that you hadn't made in the rest of the video. But suffice it to say, we apparently think alike because hearing you talk for 5 minutes on something, I can then summarize what else you think about it because we think alike. I love your videos so much because it's like you are reading my mind sometimes. Or you'll say something about something that I hadn't even realized but is 100% true.

Hey LGR, I totally see what you are saying about this. Oversaturation is a very negative thing for me as well. I see the same thing happening to some of the simulator games on Steam. I absolutely LOVE things like Microsoft Flight Simulator. I played FSX for hours and hours and more hours when it came out. I'm tempted to get it again on Steam but I'm always turning it down because there is about $800 worth of extra content. I'm a perfectionist and I generally like to have the full experience when it comes to games. And when there is that much of an experience it is no longer realistic and less worth it in my eyes. The Sims is heading that direction too. It really bothers me because I purchased the Sims 4 close to when it came out. And now I rarely play it anymore because I feel that it's quality is so far diminished now. Even the new stuff that has come out for it, has the problem the Sims 3 had towards the end. It's clear to me that the priority is quantity not quality. The quality slips and the price for each piece of content goes up. That has left me bitter and nostalgic for the days when the Sims was so good and care was taken to make sure it was an amazing experience. Another thing about Call of Duty and Battlefield is that the DLC for them makes the base game almost useless. I recently purchased Battlefield Hardline. Probably a mistake for other reasons other than the DLC but that's another story altogether. I purchased the base game so that I could try the multi-player out and see if I liked it before dropping another 30 or so dollars on the DLC. I was promptly greeted with the fact that none of the servers were actually compatible with just the maps included with the base game. I wasn't allowed to join any multi-player servers unless I had the DLC map packs installed. I felt so robbed and cheated by EA at that moment. So not only is quality of DLC going down and decreasing the worth of certain products, it is completely breaking others to the point that they don't even work without the extra content.

Kevin

Don't change the way you do your reviews. They are honest and I appreciate that.

Hmm... Well, one thought I had is that maybe turn every Stuff Pack video into a Quickie video, or combine two or more Stuff Packs into a single video, that way you can still cover everything, but the idea is the amount of effort you put into the video is directly proportional to the amount of content you're able to comment on? - Also, Patreon doesn't allow carriage returns in comments anymore... I hit enter to potentially type more stuff and it immediately posted the comment... >_>;

Wow, I just realized how cynical my post sounds. I guess I'm just not a people person. :P

I'd love to be able to say how I can't believe how people are so dumb that don't see how much you love the Sims but just hate what EA is doing to it, but I'm honestly not surprised at all. Too bad this video is ultimately useless, since the people you are referring to are either not going to watch this video, or if they do they won't understand what you're trying to say because you use long and complicated words like "oversaturate" and "uniqueness".

I thought it was a bit ramlbey, but maybe that's because I never got the impression you didn't like the Sims. I played the 1st for countless hours, but never kept up with the series, so I'm not as attuned to it's slow downfall as you. Maybe it's because I spend a lot of time studying biology and artificial intelligence now, but I always find myself thinking about Creatures 1, 2, and 3. The games had the same feel of creating a world for your beings and just slightly hand-holding them as they move through it and interact with others. But for some reason I kept up with Creatures even though most people would agree it's the inferior series.
