LGR - Onesimus - DOS PC Game Review

Comments

I saw those comments in the thread actually, I should have mentioned it in my original comment. Those comments were what made me think a video about them would be really cool.

Kevin

Definitely on the agenda for someday, talked about some of them earlier in this thread actually

LGR

Will see what I can do!

LGR

Thank you :D

LGR

This game looks both terrible yet fascinating at the same time. Great video, Clint!

Alyxx the Rat

Hey Clint! I loved this video just like everything else you do. Keep it up. I'm not sure if this video relates quite to what I'm thinking of but hey I thought of it. I'm thinking it would be cool to see a Tech Tales-ish video on all of your odd marketing games that they don't seem to make anymore like Chex Quest and others that came for free with other products. I remember as a kid I got so excited when I got a free piece of what I now know to be some kind of shovelware in a happy meal or cereal box. Do you have many of these games?

Kevin

Fascinating! I'd like to see other DOS reskins, religious or not.

Steven Zakulec

Thanks a lot, Steven, and thanks for all the support over the years!

LGR

Glad you stumbled upon it too, and that you're having personal mysteries solved :D

LGR

Ive been supporting your show since you first started on patreon. And ive been watching it much longer. Though I dont donate much, it has been the greatest value per dollar in entertainment i have ever spent. Thanks for keeping up with your videos so well. Its much appreciated man!

Steven Friar

Keep up the good work Clint! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel. I remember playing a game in a computer store in the early 90's and never could figure out what it was called. Just about crapped myself when I watched your Jones in the Fast Lane video. You solved a mystery that has been bothering me for 25 years!

Eric Leitl

Sounds like you may mean Chex Quest, which I've covered here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSnci4tjNdQ But no, this is the GM game I'm referring to :) http://i.imgur.com/Cos50Kb.jpg

LGR

Gap Kids and Taco Bell? I wanna see those now. I assume General Mills was that weird first person cereal game? Too cool.

Amy Mason

Hi back! And I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the videos, thanks for the support!

LGR

Hey man. Just saying "HI". Thanks for making me smile and my life worth living.

Gregory Brech

Agreed, this stuff is most intriguing. I've got a bunch of games along those lines, including Cool Spot and Avoid the Noid, as well as games made for Taco Bell, Gap Kids, and General Mills.

LGR

I find these fringe things fascinating. I love promotional games, just for their push to promote whatever they're promoting. In this case it's Christianity, but some of the more interesting brand-based games can be fun too. Like Cool Spot or Avoid the Noid on the PC. I'd love to see more stuff like this, either way.

Amy Mason

There are very few indeed. It's true -- most of them rip off other games, and when they don't, they lack the resources or talent to make them any good. It's an unfortunate situation overall, because there are some amazing biblical stories that'd make awesome games. Then you've got the occasional non-Christian game with heavy Christian overtones, like El Shaddai and Dante's Inferno, which are different beasts entirely.

LGR

Ha!

LGR

That's precisely the story that comes to mind for me when I see the stores these kinds of games were hawked at...

LGR

Was not aware there were flying lava birds in Rome. Was it mentioned in the Bible? ;) And speaking of the Bible, I sense this story would have ended very differently if Paul asked Onesimus to marry him. :P Yeah... this is obviously reskinned and palette-swapped from Jill of the Jungle. I just wonder if there are any good Bible-based/Christian games at all - most of them just seem to be from developers who don't know what they're doing and just rip off popular games blatantly. (Super 3D Noah's Ark, anyone?)

Lindsay Michelle

Being Marxist, he should have made Timothy Tetris. Such a wasted opportunity.

The Disgruntled Cactus

I know nothing of the bible but i imagine this is how Jesus drove the bankers out of the temple
