Vacation's over! After about 60 hours, finally got this review done... sleepless nights, haha. Hope the result was worth it.

A simple colorwheel with hex numbers at least. That way I can make a palette, but apparently it's not possible inside the game. I'm not willing to give it that much work on every house. I'm about to learn that in TS3 now, a bit late I know, but it needs to fit the house.

Great review, I had similar thoughts about basically everything you mentioned. Though game actually mostly suits my simming style as I rarely leave the house I'm playing and rarely play multiple families within one town. However, the lack of places to build a house and places to go when I do want to go somewhere got annoying quick. Also I found that the sim team cut corners when it came to sims themselves. They spent too much time on 'walk styles' and emotions and ended up creating two type of life states (young adult and child) instead of the many there are (child, teen, young adult, adult, elder). The teens, young adults, adults and elders look exactly the same (Teen's slightly skinnier compared to their adult age and the elders basically just have gray hair). If it wasn't for the fact I can no longer handle the way you create sims in the sims 3 I would probably go back to that. I almost regret impulse buying this game before waiting for your review but knowing me, I would have bought it anyway because I hyped myself up too much for it.

It was good, man! I know about how much work goes into making a review. That's why I get so few done, I'm lazy I guess. And you're not lazy at all, mr LGR.. I can't say I'm surprised about all the superficially imposed limitations. I suspect EA will ship out a cornucopia of expensive mods to add the features people want.. I was even thinking about trying this one. My silly exgirlfriend thought I should, at least..

Hardts

Yeah, me too. That or hopefully, someone will gift it to me at Christmas. Free games, who can't refuse?

Thank goodness I waited for your review and ignored my purchasing compulsive habit. I won't be original in this comment; Sims 4 isn't worth the money or the time, at least not for the time being. The removal of the open world aspect from Sims 3 simply eliminate my desire to purchase the game, personally. The freaking loading screens, man. I hated them and I hate them even more now. Nowadays, technology has reached a point where things are quickly accesible. Quick is the word (and not bird). I could go on, but it would only be a repeat of what most people will say here. Just thanks for doing the review, you just saved me 70 canadian bucks. It's going into backing you up for your fine work :)

Really disappointing to hear about the missing features. Guess I'll have the wait for more packs and a discounted base game down the line.

I was skeptical with the Sims 4. I'll probably buy it when it cuts down on price. Many people might disagree, but I believe that the Sims 3 was the best in the series. Sure it was filled with bugs, but to me there is no other game that was as dynamic as that one.

Maxis has been "meh" lately...

Thank you for the terrific review. I still do not have a desire to play this type of game.

At last! Been holding off on looking at other peoples' coverage just to hear your thoughts first, as I value your thoughts on the game way more due to your long standing coverage and love of the series. And yeah, your summary pretty much echoed my dual emotions of "Oh, cool, that's new and fun sounding!" and "Wait, that's gone, too?! That sucks!". I can pretty much equate this to D&D 4 vs 3.5 - it did fix a lot of the issues and add some interesting ideas to make the core game more fun, but at the expense of throwing out a lot of variety and optional mechanics and stripping the game down to almost bare bones content. Considering I own the entire Sims 3 collection (save a couple of stuff packs including one that shall not be named here - thanks again for that cautionary tale, sir!), and considering how many other games exist out there that cost the same if not less then this (especially compared to the extra content ones), I'll probably wait until several of the expansions are out for the game and the price has come down significantly before I consider buying it.

As a long term Simmer this game is herat-breakingly disappointing. My first thought was arghh looks like a Facebook game "Candy Sim Saga" anyone??? no? didn't think so. Its dreadful. This game was not made for die-hard simmers, I think it will fall flat on its arse and won't be around as long as its predecessors. YAY I still have Sims 3, love you ts3 and all your quirks. Hahaha... Thanks for the review LGR.

But it doesn't ask the important questions! Will it have special cows with magical udders that grant Simmers pre-made glasses of milk, chocolate milk, chocolate milkshakes and soy milk? And will said cows have REAL feelings too? (Seriously, I watch your Sims Country Livin' "LP" video WAY MORE than I probably should, and I crack up each time! I'm still not sure which is funnier: the absurdity of magic cows and chickens or the made-up dialogue between LGR Sim and Farmer Duke Nukem Sim about whether or not they're aliens. :P)

Thank you for the review. I think it's pretty accurate though I can't play more than an hour without my laptop burning up. Right now I'm inching towards the five hour mark in the Sims. So I can't attest to the game past a certain point because I have to stop before something melts on the motherboard. I may have to install it on the desktop. But I still like the game.

Kristina Smith

Yeah, that's about what I was expecting of the Sims 4. :B

Kris Asick

That's one mighty fine cock you have there.

Awesome review. I'm considering picking up Sims 4 tbh since it is the first Sims game I actually feel interested in. But I will have to see. Right now it's too expensive for me to buy on just "being interested".

Alyxx the Rat

Do I even want to know why Duke Nukem would be thinking of a squid while taking a dump?

Michael Lamartina

Well worth the wait! The review, not the game. Makes me want to play Sims 3 though!
