LGR - The Indie Box Service

Now here's one really early video. Doesn't go up til the 25th, but I'm working a bit ahead. Enjoy!

LGR - The Indie Box Service

Comments

I watched a bit of forced on "Video Games Awesome" It is a puzzle co-op adventure RPG that seemed to me to be a 4 player diablo style enemy grinder that looked like it had som Smash TV mixed in. You might like it.

Segatron

That'd be sweet. Send me a PM on here if you'd like

LGR

I have one, nearly mint I can donate to your library.

Steve Martin

I'm on the lookout for one, yup!

LGR

Do you need a complete in box copy of Aces Over Europe???

Steve Martin

It's a really neat idea, but not for me. Boxes too small and I'm not sure what to think of the mega-drive inspired logo on top of the front.

icezolation

intrigued but can't afford it, unfortunately. :(

Randall Strye

Probably is why, yeah. But I'd figure if they're trying to appeal to the big old-school game boxes, such people would have big shelves :P And yes, cardboard inserts would really help.

LGR

I wonder if the boxes are that size so they can fit in to DVD storage units? Shame they're a bit flimsy. A lot of my boxed games, even the ones of that size (Breed, Rainbow Six Raven Shield) have a heavy-duty card insert to keep the boxes well boxy!

Dan Milner

I love that game, still hoping to cover it someday. Knew it as "Shipwreckers!" here in the US

LGR

That it does, now that you mention it. At least, the later ones, since the earlier ones still had HUGE boxes

LGR

Yes indeed, I meant to mention it reminded me of things like SoftDisk and Gamer's Edge services back in the day

LGR

Indeed, Mega Drive/Genesis boxes were fantastically-built. Rugged, sexy. These are flimsy like NES boxes and late-life Genesis boxes, sadly

LGR

Yup, leaving on the 22nd for a while!

LGR

Oh I know I'm hard to please, which is why at the end I'm just like "I don't know what I'm asking for, I just know it could be better to me personally". It's a huge step in a cool direction though.

LGR

Indeed, it could be an KILLER service that I'd be super impressed by. At this point, I'm psyched such a thing exists and want to support the idea, but I know it could be much better too

LGR

like the idea.. Hate the the fact you can't choose what game, "decent" Box Quality, Small boxes.. Yeah, cool concept.. not for me.

You'd be a hard customer to satisfy because you kind of represent a smaller demographic of who they're trying to appeal to. As you mentioned, you'll end up having shelves stocked with a bunch of games you're not familiar with. But it's a pretty novel idea! This way, you become introduced to games that you probably would've quickly bypassed if there was a selection to decide on, and there's sure to be some hidden gems in there. The only downside would be the possibility of receiving a game that you already have. Great video as always :)

Happy to see this video ahead of time :D I'm trying to get a few videos done this week due to going on vacation soon. I can only assume that you're either in an "over-achieving" mood or you might be going on vacation as well. If so, I hope you have a great time wherever you're going!

Papa Kenn Media

My wife used to get a craft of some sort in the mail each month. I used to subscribe to some computer based magazines which had games and other software I also have all the issues of PC magazine on CD ROM.

Strange the Indie Box Logo looks the same like the Mega Drive logo only with indo box instead of mega drive, actually remind me pretty hardly on those boxes because they have some kind of consistency. Yeah you said it already but I find that pretty awesome.

Ezydenias

Kinda reminds me of those Atarisoft arcade ports for the Apple II. Neat idea!

RetroSwim

Overboard box in the background!! :D I remember playing the Overboard demo as a kid and it was laggy as hell. I thought my computer was too slow. Then I bought the CD version some months ago, and it's _exactly_ as laggy as I remember… weird…

LunaVorax

Oh I agree 100%. This is what I love to see, considering no one does this anymore. :( The additional goodies they supply with these just really makes it like we had in the good ol' days. I'm highly considering subscribing, because like you I do like to collect too. Plus it's a good reason to try out new games too.

ReeseRiverson

I knew it lol. Well, enjoy your vacation.

Pow3rh0use

Influence or not, I just love that there is a company that also craves boxes for PC games!

LGR

That is correct, hehe. Will be gone from the 22nd to the 31st

LGR

Haha, the bigger the better! Parts of it certainly have been known to fall... but thankfully they're sturdy creatures

LGR

And two more to come soon!

LGR

Oh yeah. And agreed on Wasteland 2, I splurged to get the big box version of it on the Kickstarter!

LGR

Man, this is pretty cool. Gee, you are a major influence. lol Dang good one, but I keep buying things. :P

ReeseRiverson

Great video as always, but I feel that if you're ahead of schedule you might be going on vacation soon lol.

Pow3rh0use

Man... you do have PC boxes literally up to the ceiling! ...You sure you want bigger boxes? I'd be afraid making one wrong move around your collection would make them all fall down like dominoes. >.> But I admire your dedication to collect any physical PC game out there!

Lindsay Michelle

So many early videos!

_nderscore

This is really cool! I'm right there with you with the critiques about the games and the boxes (I never liked the mini boxes myself). On the one hand, the surprise is fun but it's not quite the same excitement level of a game you really, really, want. Now, Wasteland 2, I would shell out mad money for a full boat. Given how tired I am of big budget games these days, maybe this is at least a good way to discover some indie games. That manual, though. I miss those so much - the smell of the ink and paper, oh yeah. I LOVE the inset artwork with the uniform bordering like the old school games. That was a smart throwback. Thanks for the vid!
