Yup. People are people...

LGR

So some people stole a couple of game discs from a charity shop? Classy!

Christian Doyle

Well, that's not how Goodwill works. It's a charity that receives and sells whatever people donate to them. They'll sell just about anything that someone donates and it's pure profit for them, they don't buy anything. But yeah, they also don't put out empty boxes to sell, those are just items that have been stolen :(

LGR

Man, it really stinks that people sell empty game boxes to goodwills. I'm confused, however, as to why they (goodwills) would purchase it in the first place, but I don't work at a goodwill, so... Anyway, here's to another great LGR - Thrifts!

Thank you for your answer on VCD. I did some research and found the following: Video CD A Compact Disc (CD) format introduced in 1993 that holds full-motion video. Developed by Panasonic, Philips, Sony and JVC, a Video CD (VCD) holds 74 minutes of VHS-quality video and CD-quality sound using MPEG-1 compression. A Super Video CD (SVCD) format was later introduced that used MPEG-2, but playing time was reduced to as little as 35 minutes. Introduced three years before the first DVD players were available, VCDs did not catch on in North America, but were popular in Asia. Video CDs can be played on many CD-ROM and DVD drives as well as CD-I and 3DO players. Specifications for this format are defined in the "White Book." See DVD. Video CD Resolutions VCD SVCD NTSC (30 fps) 352x240 480x480 PAL/SECAM (25 fps) 352/288 480x576

Gues Europe 1 US 0 when it comes to RGB.

Ezydenias

Only a few CRTs I know of had any kind of RGB, and they were proprietary connectors for things like Amiga computers. My Sony KV-1311CR has RGB for instance, but I have no cables that fit its weird shape.

LGR

I know, But I wonder did they put cinch conectors for rgb on the TVs or didn't they bother at all. I mean over here you didn't needed a premium CTR to get RGB.

Ezydenias

Thank you, glad you're enjoying! Lots more are incoming for sure :)

LGR

Julie Fredborg

Same problem here, and we've never had Scart at all.

LGR

Now I have the problem with s-video that most modern TVs don't support that anymore. And for consoles that don't have Component already this sucks, there is always the abillity of RGB still but RGB kinda sucks, it is to sensetive for anything, plus a good cable cost allot. And making them yourself, well the plug on the console is ever a pain even for consoles like the Genesis which has a absolut standard plug. And well rewiring a scart plug is also a bit of a mess, but you can do it quite nicely even you have to fit some giant capacitors in it. But I ever think, why the fuck do those new TVs over here not evne Support S-Video over the Scart Plug. Old tvs did it why not one ones. How is it in Amurika? Do you also miss the S-Video connectors on your modern TVs?

Ezydenias

I might have to hunt this down too... ;)

Alyxx the Rat

Yep, they do convey fun thrifting experience quite a bit, so I really thankful for them~!

ksen

That's unfortunate! Hope you can live vicariously through these videos a bit then

LGR

Damn, I want to visit similar stores so much. But there is absolutely nothing like it in Siberia. Not even "yard" sale equivalent. Only if you look via online services similar to craiglist, but stuff there is hugely overpriced and rarely game related. But anyway - great episode! Love them, keep them coming~!

ksen

Haha, yeah I'm not hugely into couponing or food thrifting, but you know, people just might be and I know I could make it fun. Joking or not the idea gets me thinking.

LGR

I just had an idea for a spin-off series...LGR: Food Thrifts, where you visit discount bakery and bread stores, clearance racks at grocery stores, and even some of the new expired-only food stores! You could include handy tips like "although this cheese is moldy, I know I can just cut it off and the rest of the block is fine. 20lbs for $3! Score!". Etc, etc.

Michael Hogan

No kidding, thing's practically a fortified bunker

LGR

Happy to hear it :D Really am surprised this has gone over so well, you're not alone in saying this may be your favorite thing I do

LGR

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_CD Video CD! Usually you just burned them yourself on your computer and played them there or on a compatible DVD player. Had no idea companies actually made official VCDs.

LGR

Yup, it was just processing!

LGR

Sadly not! Got some full-priced frozen food on this outing though.

LGR

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying!

LGR

Correct, but it was at least officially-sanctioned by id!

LGR

You were simply early :)

LGR

Dang you got here early huh?

LGR

Wow, if that's what an actual janitor's closet looks like, then no wonder Roger Wilco was able to sleep through the initial Sarien attack!

This series started as such a small random thing and now these are like my favorite videos of yours! They make me so happy and I don't even know why~

Wynne Gariepy

Hey, Question what is a VCD?

The video works perfectly for me. Probably just took a while?

Øyvind Hvidsten

Nice shorts. Any frozen food coupons?

Michael Hogan

I'm glad I chose to support LGR. Stuff like this is so cool to me. I'm not really sure why, but I enjoy randomness like these videos.

Matt Cain

So jelly of some of your finds there. Especially that Quake 2 expansion disc. Probably a lot of free stuff from the internet just put on a CD-ROM though.

Alyxx the Rat
