Here's fine, or Twitter, Facebook, email... wherever :)

Gotcha. And if we wanted to leave a suggestion for a Review, where would the best place for that be?

Zem Hysong

No review plans, no. But I may do a thoughts video like I did with Thief

LGR

Are there any plans for a Review of The New Order any time soon?

Zem Hysong

Haha, nice! No anthrax on-board I assure you. Can't promise a lack of 90's DOS viruses though.

LGR

From what I gather, the creator of ECWolf is trying to add such a thing to the next version of that port!

LGR

if there was map hack for the original i would play this game alot more often. maybe i should look into that, hmm...

Great review! And I also got my patreon supports disc a minute ago. Will open it carefully in case of anthrax :)

Radek Fager

Pretty much!

LGR

you cant go wrong with this game!

Dario Di Donato

Playing it now and yeah, it feels amazing. WASD + Y Axis disabled = Nazi killing fun

Alyxx the Rat

It's pretty incredible that we can so easily kill off mecha-hitler while taking a dump nowadays.

LGR

You're quite welcome! ECWolf is a lifesaver as far as making it more playable.

LGR

Happy to bring on the nostalgia.

LGR

Great stuff. I definitely agree that Doom has aged much, much better even without mods. Even so, there are decent mobile ports and I'll occasionally kill some Nazis on the toilet at work. 8-year-old me would've been amazed.

Brad Wheeler

Dude, totally radical review! And that's really righteous of you to let me know about EC Wolf. Been playing it vanilla in DOSBox all these years cause I thought that was the only way to play it on PC... :P

Alyxx the Rat

Besides, if you want a more technical indepth review I highly recommend checking out Ancient DOS Games' review of Wolf3D which goes very much into detail about game mechanics.

Alyxx the Rat

Another great trip down memory lane.

Steven Friar

Yes, there are a crapload of tidbits and interesting mechanics that I left out in the interest of brevity (and/or laziness) :)

LGR

Totally, as close to the old ones as possible while still updating it would be fine by me. Doom 3 was good for what it was, but it was a huge departure.

LGR

Great episode as usual, but I have one little critique: You didn't seem to mention that the amount of damage that the weapons deal really depends on the distance between you and your target, and vice versa. If a guard shoots you from across the room, it only deals a bit of damage, but if he shoots you point blank, you'll die in a couple of shots.

I'll take a simple straight forward oldschool nonsense - or no nonsense (depending on how you look at it I guess) fps over some of the newer ones any day. Too many buttons man, give me a break! Although I must admit I'm not much for the mazelike level design of Wolf3D as you also mentioned, I rather thought games like Doom and Quake had some of the most engaging leveldesign. Granted, Doom had it's fair share of mazes as well. What I really want now, is for the upcoming Doom game to be as much like the original as possible - complete with the trademark catchy ominous music by Robert Prince. Quality work as usual, always a treat! /Christian
