Hi Marshall & Luis, hello from Ireland and thanks for your outstanding work over the years. I'm particularly impressed by the consistency of both quality and quantity of the episodes, especially while also keeping up with the recent acceleration of new set releases. My question is more of a suggestion, but what would you say to introducing "speed-based" grades to your set reviews? I've noticed that the speed of a format can sometimes make an unplayable card playable (or vice versa). Having something like a build-around grade but based on format speed ("a fast-format B-", "a slow-format B" and so on) might be helpful to listeners and also open up some new conversations too. Love the show, keep up the good work!

Hi Marshall and Paul, I was wondering why drafting is not more prevalent in other trading card games, as it is in Magic. I know that some games support it but to me it seems Magic is the only one where it has taken off and become one of the major ways to play. Any ideas what makes MTG special in that regard? Thanks for all you do, Alex

Hi Marshall and Paul - I loved hearing you cover the PT. I’d be really interested in hearing how you would have approached Javier Dominguez’s day one draft - I think Javier put himself in a tough spot straddling WR aggro and a red-based cycling deck. Would you have committed to aggro? I thought he could have maybe pivoted to WB later in pack 1.

Hey guys, quick shoutout to Paul who's been doing a phenomenal job on the show! With the introduction of the Marshal test I have one genuine question: In any of the sets in the last year would you run a 7 CMC 1/1 Creature with text that literally reads "At the start of your next untap, you win the game."

Have you ever built a low powered cube and done a deep dive on the list on the podcast? As a cube owner but someone who has never played much retail limited, I'd be extremely curious to know which cards and archetypes make the cut and why in your ideal format. Any mechanics, cards or sets that are all time favorites in terms of limited gameplay?

Casey Johnson

Agreed, great question. All my games are some variety of big, wide green mirror. I’m seeing games go to natural decking or matches go to time limit. (I even let myself get decked once in a game I couldn’t win because I was ahead on clock.)

What would make a format easier or harder for a player? What can someone learn about themselves when they find they struggle at a format versus being strong in another format? For example, I would typically get to the low 3 digits in mythic for BLB and FDN, even won $2k in the FDN Arena Open. But I barely made mythic in DSK and am still struggling in diamond in DFT!

Granted, my sample size of 10 drafts in Aetherdrift is small, but so far I have 5 decks that are solidly 3 colors that have all done well, and 5 2 color decks that did poorly. Have you found 3 colors to work in this format, am I just running hot?

Let's say hypothetically that hostile aliens come to Earth and challenge the human race to the objectively best way to determine the fate of humanity, Team Draft Vintage Cube. Obviously, we have selected Marshall, Paul and Luis as our champions. However, the aliens have cheated by stealing the powers of some of the other best players in the Magic community, a la Space Jam. What powers do the aliens steal from whom? Does humanity come out on top? Thanks for a putting out a great show each week.

Hi guys, Did you consciously decide to re-adjust your grades, so that C- is somewhat the average again during the set reviews? A and C grades seemed to be much harder to come by this time. Also there is on peculiar thing: lightning strike is just okayish. Martin Juza was comparing everything to Lightning Strike on his set reviews. But according to 17lands it's been falling of a cliff and my experience so far is the same. Any thoughts on this? Thank you guys!

Aetherdrift draft seems very grindy due to lots of creature combat at the start. What is your personal opinion on the pace of the games and do you think it's too grindy? I've had some success with green based aggro decks but it's still early. Thanks guys

I was late on the November post with this, haha timing is pretty tight now: This fall, I lived out the midlife-crisis-dad-magic-dream and spiked an RCQ>RC to the PT for my first time in a few weeks! (playing constructed.... woof) So my question is: I often hear the phrase "well if I was drafting at the PT I would _______ " thrown around on podcasts, my lgs, online, etc. What does that phrase mean to you guys? Is it a heuristic tweak by 5%, a mindset shift on how you enter the draft, a hard commitment to settling coin flips between cards, etc. I'd love to hear the thought process on that or if it's just old magic banter that people say before they give magic-player opinions :). Thanks for everything along the way, wouldn't be living this out without LR!!!!
