The Disturbing Nature of Russell Williams

Comments

This is my favorite one!!!!

NYCWendy1

Have you watched the entire interrogation? Any crime nut who is here most likely has. It has got to be the best job I have ever seen by a detective. I've watched all of them it seems and none even come close to the Canadian copper

Dave M

This is maybe the oddest case I've seen. Here was a guy who was highly accomplished and started his crimes later in life. And the almost methodical escalation in crimes to torture and murder demonstrated that he would have kept killing and finding new ways to satisfy his depravity. Congrats to the Ottawa police department for stopping a serial killer just as he was getting started. Thanks, Mike for the video

liberty

well i would never have thought it of him

david briggs

I just love Jim Smyth, he is one of the best investigators I have ever seen in interrogations. The part where Russell asked "Got a map?" like he was the main character in a crime movie always stuck with me. 😂 Followed by the frantic search for a map in that police department and none could be found at first. 😂 I have seen numerous videos about this case, Mike, but you managed to bring in information that were news to me. Great vid!

Efeu

He reminds me of Israel Keyes. I find these types of serial killers the scariest...they seem so “normal,” even honorable in this case, on the outside.

Erin Ceja

I agree he always finds the most interesting extra stuff & it’s the best! I hadn’t heard of this guy before the video, locked the windows last night 😂

Etak Doow

Couple things: -- As many people have already pointed out, I appreciate how even when you cover cases that have been covered to death already, like this one, you usually managed to get some footage/photos or information I hadn't heard before. For example, I had no idea that the family that bought his house was the family of his first victim – – which is wild -- As far as him having "no red flags", I feel like his college-aged penchant for "pranking" his friends by sneaking into their locked rooms, combined with his obsessively ordered and authoritative personality, could constitute a red flag of sorts. Obviously not on the order of being a fetishistic sexual sadist and serial killer, but concerning nonetheless

gethaunted

uhhh 7:57 quick question- WTF

Etak Doow

Excellent video as always. Good Birmingham accent BTW :)

Dave Lindop

Mike -- you could read the phone book (remember those?) and I'd listen to it -- it's just gravy that your videos are so well written. Russell Williams is the definition of a monster. Thanks for this. Glad he's going to rot in prison. Have you checked out another Canadian murder -- Barry and Honey Sherman? It's still unsolved I think and is pretty disturbing.

Speedbird

Mike, you're the best! I always enjoy the way you approach and present cases! This is one of the more chilling interrogations I've ever seen because of the totally mundane and normal guy vibe he gives off. He isn't an imposing figure, doesnt display the old crazy eyes, and maintains a pretty decent amount of composure. Yikes on several bikes.

Amber White

JimCantSwim on Youtube does a really interesting breakdown of the whole interview as well. Totes worth the watch.

Jared Crooks

I have lupus too and second that x

Shazzzaa

Yes I really enjoy JC analysis videos, very in-depth he’s one of my fav true crime bloggers along with Mike 😊

Shazzzaa

Over the past 12 months I've had to be on five rounds of prednisone. It's just a steroid but I'm sure we've all heard of roid rage It doesn't affect me that way but it did completely ruin all the weight that I had lost. So we're starting over.

Shellie Brown

Thanks Mike!..Ive just recently watched some stuff on Williams lately but none of them covered his childhood.. And that's weird about the Prednisone thing because I had Pluersy once and that's what they prescribed me... the doctor literally said to be vigilant because the prednisone might "...make (me) mad..."...lol well he was right. It's hard to explain but it jus did..i became very irritated... but not irritated to the point of being a murderous pervert....

Troy DeJulio

The entire interview is available out there and is just endlessly fascinating to watch as the colonel deteriorates. For example, the *brilliant* interviewer calls him Russell instead of Colonel. The whole interview is just full of great stiff.

dougie

I can testify to steroid rage. I had to take it for my Lupus for more than a decade....believe me when I say that after long term use of steroids, they can cause you to be unable to regulate your adrenal gland, thus causing "roid rage", and it can happen over piddeling shit. No excuse, but there is absolutely truth to the anecdotal tales.

Rachel Witherspoon

Isn't it? Did you see jcs analyze it? Cool stuff!

Didi Cortez

Russell Williams interview in full is gripping.

Shazzzaa

Hey Mike, thanks for the crime fest😉😉

Shazzzaa

I already knew quite a bit about Russell Williams before watching your take on it. And as usual you provided a masterfully crafted story in the span of a 1/2 hour. Well done Mike!

Paul V

The fact that he tortured and murdered two women and is ELIGIBLE FOR PAROLE in 2035 blows my mind. UGH.

Lisa Henkel

Thanks Mike

Jane Pohl

If y’all haven’t watched the entire interview I would check it out. It’s super interesting in a disturbing way.

Andrew

Scarborough again. The birthplace of Canada's #1 attention w**** Luka "devastatingly good looking" Magnotta.

Bjarnehall .

Oh this guy! I knew that name sounded familiar. Fuck this guy in particular.

Varpu Reiniaho

WOW!!!! Disturbing indeed. Thanks Mike, A great job of covering this Case!.

David A Pridgen

Heard this case from a few other podcasts so excited to hear your angle now!!

Icepack Jack

It's scary when we can't point to what turned him into a violent freak.

Kathleen Craig

Terrible cruel a-hole. I wish him the worst.

Jennifer Emmett

Thanks Mike for this sick, twisted story. This guy makes me actually nauseous! I had to pause because I thought I was going to hurl. Freak!

Sash Johnson

I'm oddly flattered at your penchant for Canadian crimes, Mike

Lauren Lovecraft

This case has always been fascinating. He showed nothing that would suggest what he was doing. Jim Can’t Swim (his videos which pick apart interrogations are amazing) covered his interrogation, and I’ve watched it numerous times. Williams made it a point to tell others to call him Colonel or at least point out his accomplishments via what he wanted people to refer to him as. He’s an absolute monster.

DEADisBEAUTIFUL .

I thought Canadians were supposed to be boring, I guess the killers make up for it 🙄

Redz 71

Who knew there were so many nutjobs in Canada!

Alicia Hoverson

He really is/was disturbed. I’m glad he is put away. One less monster out there. Thank you mike for covering this case.

Rose Tyler

Haha. You just can't keep your hands off Canada. :P :D

Bjarnehall .

YES I'm so happy to watch this one! This man is truly nutso!
