Ask Me Anything No. 3

If you have any questions about me or the channel work away, I'll film a video at the weekend answering all your questions!

Comments

Hi Mike, when will you showing the video of you answering these questions?

Becky

If he ever changed his pronunciation of thirty, I would be v disappointed. It’s literally the most endearing thing ever.

Deb

When are you getting married? Can we meet her ever? What does your family think of your YouTube career? Your interest in murder mysteries?

Deb

Would you consider doing a story on Gable Tostee. Its creepy and interesting af.

Ryan

Would you consider covering the Chris Benoit story? He's a wrestler, the case is really strange.

Elizabeth Hanley

What does the “That Chapter” beat lab where u make all the vids look like?!?! 🤩 I gotta know! lol

Kkelly Ccourtney

Replying to DORVITA - that was a very interesting read! Definitely was a serial killer at work there. Thanks for sharing

Red37

Am I too late for this? I always wanted to know where the channel name came from; what made you decide on “That Chapter”?

Lisa

now THATS ^^ interesting :0) y`know just in case you are looking for something to keep you thinking and boy, has it kept our local boabies thinking, case still ongoing 40 years later. ( sorry just wanted to share, maybe you can find out way more about it, if interested ofc) hope Ive not offended by leaving this or the link x this case just fascinates me

Dorvita

Dorvita

That’s a really good question: which, if any, cases did Mike decide against presenting and why. I’d really like to hear his response to that.

Lisa

What do you find so fascinating about the dark sides of life as you cover them?

Paul Wevers

What do you think about your Patreon doubling in basically 1 month?? That’s amazing, Mike. We support you!

Maureen Campbell

What do you think about the FBI's behavorial science unit(or whatever the name is)

Helga Bluestone

Do you have any favorite true crime authors?

Helga Bluestone

Hi Mike Just curious what age did True Crime grab your Attention? I'm 50 and even as a young girl ( early 80s)🙄i would buy a magazine called Murder Casebook, I had about 6 volumes but they got destroyed in a fire in the shed I'd stored them in about 10 years ago , I was gutted.

Shazzzaa

I believe I've seen him thank a few viewers for their suggestions....

Mike Joe

what was your favourite place to visit?

Elizabeth Hanley

how do you decide which crimes to cover?

Elizabeth Hanley

What kind of topics are off limits for your videos?

Liam Tarr

Which true crime story did you feel yourself most attached to and why?

Dena

I miss your tin foil hat. Do you ever want to branch out into the weird anymore? Are there any other topics besides true crime you would like to cover on your channel? I love the murder and stupid hate filled violence, as we all do. I was just wondering...

beth z

Do you ever get disturbing feedback because of your clips??

albion123

What case has disturbed you the most?

Mo0may

Have you ever done a video about any crime in Ireland?

Amber Servold

Do you have siblings? How does your family feel about your YouTube content? Are they supportive? Do you have a significant other and if so, how do they feel about your amazingly awesome videos?

ScaryPoppins

Oml these questions. 🤦‍♀️

ScaryPoppins

What do you do for a living Mike? How long on average do you spend on research and everything else for a typical video? Any pets? Butt wiping... standing up or sitting down? Favourite TV series? What make of fridge do you have? What's the last thing you ate? How many fingers am I holding up? :)

Steve Cummings

Why are you like this?

Zoe Bricklin

Where oh where are the little green men? How many leprechauns have you seen in your life and how many does the average Irish person see? Does anyone ever find the pot o' gold at the end of the 🌈 ?

Elizabeta

There’s usually a lesson one can learn from any given case, but in that one it was simply a case where two friends decided to get rid of another for basically when it comes down to it no reason what so ever. There’s no motive other than human embodied hatred. You could say that about many other cases, from Chris Watts to Israel Keys to the Mike Williams case but all of them had a clear motive. I’m sick as a dog at the moment so I hope that made some sense

Shon Thomas

outside of researching true crime, what do you do that makes your heart happy? work, games, books etc?

mistymoose

This isn't a question, just a bit of rambling, but I wanted to tell you how much I love your work. I've been going through some emotional turmoil lately and watching your sharp wit, funny quirks, and horrifying stories have really helped to both cheer me up and put my own problems into perspective (such as, "yeah I'm feeling down right now, but at least I wasn't stalked / assaulted / kidnapped / murdered"). So thank you thank you thank you for all your hard work and dedication, and you can certainly count on me to be a patron and fan for as long as you want to stick around! :)

Casper Ty Wolfenbarger

Do even try to pronounce thirty? It does appear a lot in the videos. :)

Cat Sanctuary Dallas

Do you encourage video ideas from viewers? I’m from Adelaide, South Australia, the serial killer state!, we would have some ‘beauties’ for you! PS love your channel :-)

Tricia Knightly

Would love, love love a Russell (call me Rus) Williams video from Paul. I sadly know the interrogation video too well, but would enjoy Paul’s perspective.

Tricia Knightly

Do you take requests? I'm sure you get them all the time. Are they helpful or is it annoying like unsolicited advice?

Andrew DeLong

Thanks, Karen. I'll be sure to like all of Mike's shows. About the bell, I see it on my laptop but not on my iPad. I hope I'm not looking right at it, but I don't think so. It was so, so nice for you to help me. 😃 ❤️

Catherine DeWitt

Also! Would you ever do a crossover with the last podcast on the left?

Guy Fawkes

What’s your favorite type of nachos?! We talking chicken, beef, avocado.. Swiss, cheddar - your ultimate nacho build. And if you say you don’t like them then sir I call you a liar.

Guy Fawkes

hee hee, take your pick to answer: If you could be an animal, which would you be and why? What did you want to be when you grew up? Do you ever feel guilty, like me, that there's so much entertainment derived from true crime? (You make me get over mine, Mike ;b.)

Charle Min

I keep sending before I have finished All the best Michelle

Michelle Shephard

How long does it take on average to research write and record a video?

Michelle Shephard

Hello,

Michelle Shephard

Hi Mike, just let you know really, really enjoy all the videos ,the way you present them and facts on the cases is great! And that little bit of humor is hilarious! My question if anyone has a case for u mite look into can we send u general info for u to maybe do that case? Thanks again!

eddiewix

Howdy Mike and my That Chapter family! What is the worst nightmare you have had as a result of all your research?

Amanda Lewis

What other interests/hobbies do you enjoy other than true crime? :)

Megan Cassidy

Have you come across a case which made you look back on the street for some while, or check if the door is locked a bit more often than usual? In which case where you the most disappointed with: 1. Police investigation 2. Offender stupidity (motive or hiding evidence)

Marcin Śróda

I'm still a new patreon, so I wanna know everything. Where you were raised, what you do besides youtube, whether you're married. or just have a life partner. Everything you're willing to share, I'd like to know. I like your videos, and have often wondered about you and your background. So this opportunity to ask you is great. Thanks for opening up and sharing your life.

Pamela Pursley Duplan

are you familiar w Annie Le (Yale) case in New Haven, CT? crazy case... but might not be enough info for a a whole episode. still no explanation of why all these years later

Mike Joe

That’s an Excellent Question.

Amelia Flowers

oh, and what's your sign?

Shan Nonymous

1) What do your parents think about your channel 2 ) favorite food and drink. 3) were you bullied in school or witness bullying? 4) do you smoke weed? 5) can you swim?

Shan Nonymous

I know you didn't ask me but - the bell is next to the subscribe button on youtube. The like (or dislike strangely) makes youtube know people are watching a video and interacting so it recommends it to more people and therefore introducing more people to the video and hopefully the channel xx

Karen Purnell

Have you ever had personal contact with any of the people that are in your stories?. either the episode subject or someone involved?

Troy DeJulio

If you could solve - with a definite answer- a case you have covered which would it be and why ? xx

Karen Purnell

Hey Chris, I know you didn't ask me, but I have a melancholic disposition and watching crime docs helps remind me how good I have it (even having been the victim of a terrible crime myself). 🌲🌴🌳 🕊 ❤️

Catherine DeWitt

What are some of your personal favorite stories you have covered?

David Allen

Where do I find the bell on YouTube so I get notifications? I use an ipad. No one will help me find out. Also, what benefit is hitting the "like" button? Do you get something for it? Sorry for my ignorance and pretty lame questions.

Catherine DeWitt

Hi Robyn, every Irish kid I know has to learn Irish in school. I'm hoping he'll sprinkle in some as well! Knowledge is a wonderful thing. ❤️ 🌲🌳🌴

Catherine DeWitt

How did you decide on the name “That Chapter “ for your channel?

Jane Pohl

have you seen my car keys

Steven Cox

Do you have a job behind youtube? Does your partner ever get annoyed with how much time youtube takes up?

Elle

How long does it take to make a video and how long in advance do you film it?

Elle

Do you have a background in crime and criminology and have you considered going into law enforcement? Im going with probably not!

Emily POWELL

Will you be doing a podcast?

Ashley Lindsten

What's your favourite colour? Do you like long walks on the beach and candlelight dinners? Kidding, kidding. True crime is known for attracting women more than men. True crime groups on Facebook are 99% women. Do you know the demographics of your audience? Does this ring true for your channel as well?

Vanessa

Where do you like to get your stories from? I'm starting a channel that's going incorporate a story time with my favorite true crime stories as well as paranormal stories, how would you recommend I go about pulling a good story together?

Travis McIntyer

What inspired you to start your channel?

Robert Jackson

Shon, may I ask what you mean when you say there's nothing to learn about the Sylar Neese case?

Siobhan Blue

Hey Mike, Chris here and in this old comment I have a tree part question for you: being involved in true crime really puts your focus on the bad in the world, so how do you stay positive, how does it effect your IRL, and what advice could you give someone struggling to see more than the bad? Thanks for reading, Chris out.

Chris Kirchner

What a great idea Mike Joe! Would love to see a compilation of funny out-takes if such exist.

Red37

can we see scrapped episodes? what makes you scrap one?

Mike Joe

Hi Mike. Thanks for doing another AMA. I'll just throw out a bunch of questions and you can pick and choose what you want to answer. Have you ever been recognized as 'That Chapter' guy? Sign autographs? Take photos? Is it weird being alone in a sound-proofed room, talking to a camera as if it's really thousands of people? How much of your videos, particularly your witticisms, are improvised as you're talking vs scripted? Many YouTube creators have been taking mental health breaks from their channels. Are you nearing one? Are you having problems with demonetization like other true crime channels? Are you considering expanding into That Chapter merch? Is there a dog in your future?

Laura J

Where are you from? Your accent sounds like Galway perhaps?

John Xtopher

How tall are you, dogs or cats, if you could go anywhere for a week, where and do you believe in ghosts? 🤷‍♀️👻🐕🐈🌎🛫

Jaiymee

What's your plan for the channel?

me in the park ... buttsex

No questions.... just wanna say you rock! 🤩

Amber

You've really come out of your she'll over the last year so, is that because of your husband or wife or others? (As a mom of a few kids your age I know the answer but what advice would you give other kids, er, much younger people, your age?) Also as a mom, keep up the great work you do hunny, it gets better ever single video👏.

Jacquie Poier

do you garden at all?

Mackenzie Wahl

Do you like Irish scone? I mean the loaf version and not the silly English version of it.

Sean DeMarco

There's a lot of talking about your mustache... Have you ever tried the ol' beard? Thanks for the quality content!

Alejandro J. Soto

This content you work with to make videos (police interviews, autopsy reports, etc); is it all public information or do you access non-public sources?

Greg Diamond

If you could interview one of the murderers you’ve covered, who would it be?

Christina Cramer

Hey there! I'm wondering what your life is like outside of making your videos? Has your success with your channel changed anything about what you do on your 'off' time? Also, keep up the awesome work! You should already know you're one of my top favorite channels! Oh! And I have a case suggestion: That of Daniel Wozniak - he was a struggling actor who murdered his neighbors. It's actually a very heartbreaking and unbelievable story~

Nicolina Gallo

Hey Mike - Two questions from me - Of all the cases you've covered, which has stuck with you the most? I'll tell you mine - The case of Mark Twitchell, I think we can all kind of related to it in a way, you've all chased a girl (or guy) at some point and never in a million years would think they'd murder and dismember you! Secondly question is less sinister :D Have you ever been recognised in the street? Andy

Andy O

Was there a particular case that struck you and ignited your passion for researching true crime and bringing the victims cases to light in a respectful and educational way? Or has the dark side of humanity just always interested you? Love seeing your channel grow ad see you getting credit for the hard work you put into your unique and striking presentation of these crimes. Feels icky saying I "look forward" to your uploads, because of all the evil murders but I'm sure everyone here gets that😂😂 keep up the good work pls, ly😊✌

pmac

Hey Mike, I've always struggled when in conversations with friends/acquaintances about my interests regarding True Crime topics. I'm currently doing my Criminology Masters degree in University, as sick as it sounds I can't get enough of it. I know I've gone too far when I'm pondering who my 'favourite' murderer or sex offenders are. That being said, which case would you say has impacted you the most? (Either while doing it or after it's all said and done when looking back)? Mine would certainly be the Skylar Neese case, it's hard to joke about and unlike many other cases out there, there's absolutely nothing to learn. Anyway, thanks for being the best True Crime person out there.

Shon Thomas

Do you plan on doing more collaborations in the future

710 Hub

Hey there, you. In this next old AMA, can you talk about your favorite episode thus far? (I know you don't like your old stuff, which is dumb, because it's perfectly great), but I'm curious which cases kinda sucked you in and still haunt your dreams. Thanks! (Jared out.)

Jared Crooks

Hey Mike, Is the Red shirt you wear 99% of the time in your videos a lucky shirt?

Monkey Fungus

Hi Mike are there any plans to see some videos from haunted castles and locations.

Michael Green

have you ever tried making your own craft beer and becoming a hipster? and if not, WHY not?? :) Kay, OUT!

Karli Green

How’s it going, Mike? Absolutely love & appreciate your vids but as a 1st timer to your “Ask me anything” segment, I must apologize if this has already been answered... am just curious, how long are you going to stay a fiancé or is there a date set? 👰🏻💜🤵🏼 Also, how about a vid on serial killers who were caught like Russell Williams (just sad, smh) or you could even take us back to Bundy & Manson, etc. as a history refresher? Thx for the vids, witty banter & the winks! Take care! ✌🏼😉

Frankie1078

Hey you, Mike! In today's question, I'm going to ask, how long on average does it take to make a video? From research to completion. Really, really appreciate you. Brian out. 😉

Brian Metzger

Hi Mike, Tickles us pink when an upload is available. Thank you for all your hard work. Just wondering, are you willing to sort a P.O. Box so we can send you stuff in appreciation..... Vegemite from down under Truely is not like they say in the vids.... It would come with a comprehensive instruction manual... 😂😂 But really we wanna send stuff

Alison Good

Hi Mike, which case has disturbed you the most, and which one have you found the most fascinating? An idea for a case you could look into is the woman with the toxic blood, when she was being operated on most of the staff passed out.... Love your channel, much love and respect to you.

Becky

Love, love, love your channel; I'm thrilled every time you upload something new. Do you still live in Ireland or are you US-based? (As most of your episodes are Stateside.) Would you consider doing cases from non-English-speaking countries?

Reggie

At the end of a few of your videos you play some music while you are thanking the viewers and I haven’t been able to find the music in the descriptions of which songs you used in the making of the videos. It sounds awfully like ‘Oh John’ from the Far Cry 5 video game soundtrack. Could you maybe confirm this? (Or deny!)

Sly Fox

Would you do any videos focusing on paranormal cases or investigations of hauntings? Maybe the occult? Or are you just focusing on the true crime stuff these days? Regardless, I love your content! Thank you! 😊

Ivy Gilstrap

All the questions above lol and do you do these videos all by yourself? Do you have any help 👍 absolutely want to know was there one you didnt want to do as it did keep you awake at night 😦

Kit Doherty

What are your top 3 videos you have made and why? ty x

Dorvita

I'm a former EMT and I definitely have a case that haunts me. Most in the medical field or law enforcement have at least one that does. With all the research you do into this cases, are there any that haunt you or that have really stuck with you?

Lena Boylan-Rosio

Are there any cases that stuck with you, kept you awake at night? How many hours do you invest in making each video? Do you like marmalade?

Mr Marmalade

I would like to know what criteria you use for selecting the stories you cover, how much time goes into research and editing to get your videos out. Is there a particular reason you chose this subject matter? Do you have enough Patreon support to do this as a full time job? I sure hope so because it has to be completely time consuming. I love your channel and it’s the only one I support 👍

Cheryl

In one of your recent videos you made reference to only speaking one language; got me curious, do you also speak Irish Gaelic? If you do or at least know some of the more common terms, you should sprinkle them into your videos 😁 I love other languages and accents!

Robyn Wheatcraft

How do you separate yourself from the crimes? Like, what do you do to reset after looking into so much negativity and harsh and evil of humanity?

Chris Drake

I’m sure you’ve answered this before but for those of us who are relatively new; what prompted your channel? Were you always interested in true crime? Did you want to to YouTube and settle on this genre? Do you have any education or experience in this area or is it purely interest? Thanks for everything all the time. You don’t know how many days I’ve spent home, sick (chronic pain condition but it’s curable and getting better) watching your videos so thank you!

Lisa

What one story that was really tough to film and stuck with you for a while, like weighing on you?

Chris Drake

What’s your typical research process like and how long does it usually take for you to build up enough material for a video? Sorry if this has been asked before 😅☺️

Brooke Ralstin

Which case effected you the most personally, and why that one? Also, have there been any you decided not to present after looking into them (and why)?

River N
