i think it's just general loneliness more than anything. like yeah, he definitely obviously has feelings for olivia and is a bit salty about that whole situation, but the looks weren't just towards peter and olivia or the wannabe mutant adam and eve, but towards the group as a whole when they were all together with him being separate. the dude's lost a lot recently: obviously his partner, but he also relocated to a new city, he's still trying to find his place among the team, doesn't have much in the way of friends, and now peter's back and has a level of comfort with the team that he hasn't achieved in the months in boston, and even the crazies have each other. while the romantic aspect is definitely there with his big ol crush on olivia, he's also without a tribe right now and i think he's really feeling that in this episode; that he's liked and respected, but not essential and not loved. throughout the episode, he had the look of someone being left behind and can only watch it happen

2025-06-07 09:15:56 +0000 UTCbtw if you would like a oneshot fanfic (11k) set post season 4 with polivia where rachel comes back into town to find her sister's whole situation is different (including her sister) without any word from olivia, i got you, just say the word. it's very...warm, and cozy, and sweet. i don't know how you feel about links like that in your comments so i didn't want to just drop it lol i do feel really bad for lincoln here. he was just starting to carve out a new place for himself but still wasn't really on solid ground when he finds himself replaced by the guy he didn't know he was replacing in the first place i agree with you that it's so nice and heartwarming to see olivia come to terms with her previous life and really appreciate it, even choose it over the life that seemed to have less grief and turmoil (a niece AND nephew, raised by nina, not being tormented by her stepfather's birthday cards)

It's also about the fact that beautiful women are overlooking him and onto others including this one on a hideous creature. He's suffering terribly from the 'nice guy' syndrome. He's thinking 'well then what's the point of me?'
