Fav episode so far this one for me. IDK why exactly, I just found it flowed well, with a decent pace and brought the crew closer together. 'The girl is a Witch'...'Yeah, but she's our Witch'!! I loved it so much. Great to learn more about Simon and River too, I'm not a fan of their Dad at the moment, I gotta say.
Massive thanks to AC10 for the Funkos! Utter legend, Zoe and Kaylee now banked in the collection.

I think that Jewel Staite did such an amazing job in the souvenir shop scene. Not to BY ANY MEANS downplay any of her performance thus far, but I think if you only watched that scene starting with Kaylee and Inara without having watched any Firefly beforehand, you would feel the same amount of empathy (sympathy?) and caring for Kaylee that you do seeing it in order. The writing helps, but damn, her face.

2024-06-08 23:54:17 +0000 UTCI like that this episode was somewhat River-centric and the highlight for me was River dancing (no Michael Flatley cracks). It was so fun to watch. Summer Glau is a trained dancer in real life. She played the primary ballerina in Angel S3E13 "Waiting in the Wings". River is my 2nd Firefly crush. Simon willing to die with his sister makes me emotional as I always wanted a sister but it never happened. I loved that Jayne was the first to confront the mob and it felt like a turning point for him, albeit a tiny one. "She's our witch." At the end they had steak dinners so they must have kept a cow. They filmed that scene and then called a lunchbreak. The crew left and the cast actually sat there and ate that dinner. I absolutely agree with you about the bonding of the Serenity crew. You felt a growing sense of familiarity and comraderie. I like it. Thanks Dak, see you tomorrow! p.s. I mentioned in a recent comment that I was almost done with my Supernatural rewatch and I said I might start Buffy again or perhaps Lucifer. After I finished this comment I watched the final three episodes and in S5E18 you were wearing a Hot Tub High School Reboot shirt. Lucifer it is.
