Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reaction 6x12

Please use one of the links at the bottom of this post to watch this video, thank you:

Sorry for the delay on this one guys!

Hello All!

Amy went too far here! Poor Willow. I think it shows so much progress though with how she handled it & a lot of strength! Seeing Buffy working on a job that isn't slaying was interesting haha, trust her to walk into another monster experience anyways! What a monster it was too...YIKES hahaha. Buffy & Spike are continuing their fling and it's getting messier by the day. Something has to give soon!

Hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reaction 6x12

Comments

In episode 06x09 when Amy is watching TV on Buffys sofa there is a Doublemeat BOGO offer playing in the background. Nice little forshadow.

Apparently, this episode made the advertisers unhappy which in turn made the station bosses unhappy and they made their unhappiness known to the production team!

Amy did a dirty, and good for Willow telling her to eff off. It's definitely a filler episode, and a strange one at that. The video Buffy had to watch at the start gave me flashbacks xD. Its funny how the music behind the episode completely changes the feel. Not alot to add to this episode... Its weird, but funny in a way. Hallie stiring up trouble and Xander being confused is anoying but highlights some things Anya and Xander maybe should talk about.

Somehow missed this upload so I'm a bit late. While certainly not a great episode, it isn't a bad one. I would say it's a good episode with some very good and funny scenes. One of the funniest was when Halfrek showed up and thought she had been summoned to kill Xander. It reminded me of my comment on Angel S03E11 when I said ''...and I love how both Buffy and Angel create scary looking demons and give them 'Hey what's up? How's it going?' demeanors". The actress that played Halfrek was the mother on ''Liv and Maddie'', which was a show aimed at kids and young teens that aired in the mid-2010s. I saw several episodes while younger family members were watching and it was really good and wholesome I had to laugh when all of a sudden we see Spike and Buffy...slaying. Helluva drive-thru. ''Potestas'' Man, not a great gift to give an addict. Once again we get the Dark eyes and she seemingly became more powerful. Quite foreboding. Notes: ''It's people! It's people!'' Nice nod to ''Soylent Green'' (1973). Cannibal Xander made me a bit queasy. I'm a huge zombie and cannibal movie/TV guy, but accidentally eating (what turned out not to be) human flesh would be devastating, I would think. I mean, according to Jeffrey Dahmer it tastes like filet mignon, but I'll pass, thank you very much. Yeah, Dak, Penis Grandma was pretty gross and silly at the same time. It reminded me of a cross between the chestburster scene in ''Alien'' (1979) and Love Sausage from ''The Boys'' (as Sharon mentioned). See you soon Dak! Thanks!

Completely irrelevant comment here. I’m only like 10 seconds in right now, but I just needed to say: your eyes are popping! this video and look amazing. That is all, back to the vid, lol.

I'm in the minority, but I don't mind this episode. I worked in fast food for two years, and this is honestly what it felt like sometimes. It's just mind-numbingly repetitive and stressful and sometimes the customers are ugly so you end up feeling dehumanized. Long-term workers often are checked out because management is on the side of the owner, so it's really hard to get your needs met as a worker. Obviously it's exaggerated, because Hellmouth (not a new thing for Buffy, where everything is slightly more evil than in real life). But Buffy commenting about being a "tool" of the system is actually pretty accurate for how it can feel when you're working really hard to make less than minimum wage in the US and your boss is arguing with you to come in despite you having a fever of 101 (yep, that happened to me). I really don't like it when shows or movies make workers look happy like they're in commercials. It always feels like capitalistic propaganda to me, because whenever I walked into work, the smiles were pretty non-existent. So even though this is a depressing, weird episode and the penis monster metaphor is pretty ugly, I can't hate it. Making middle America look at what taking advantage of minimum wage workers really does is satisfying to me, in a dark way.

On the Helfrek/Anya scenes: Helfrek is a demon so 'not helpful' is in character. Paralleling Willow/Amy: Based on their interaction on reuniting they were friends and now Anya is human and happy to be so. Helfrek is wanting her unhappy and trying to get her demon back.

such an odd episode with a penis monster

Not the best episode, by a long way, but I did enjoy the Willow recovery subplot. From the moment that Amy entered her room you could clearly she her aggitation which led to sheer panic when she got Amy's magical gift. Loved that she came clean to Buffy before non magically disposing of the monster and then closed the door on her friendship with Amy.

In yet another installment of 'I was a former addict', I do have to say that I appreciated the Amy & Willow interaction in this episode. I was lucky in that whilst I did have to break contact with a lot of people, two of my absolute closest friends, who were also struggling with addiction, actually respected the boundaries I put in place and so we were able to continue our friendship (albeit in a more limited way than before). Having said that I did also have one Amy-esque experience where one of the girls I knew from the streets, who had a major issue with anyone getting clean, decided to follow me into a public toilet one day, pull a knife on me & basically force me to take a hit (from her warped point of view it was worth the money spent, just so she could see someone getting clean be put back in their place). Some people who are still very much trapped in their own addiction just cannot abide the idea that another person might one day get free.

A really interesting episode in terms of style - the sound, lighting and direction are all great at creating a really unsettling atmosphere. Buffy's misery is compounded in getting a dead-end soulless job that culminates in her shagging her soulless lover round the back in the bins. It's real let down, of course, is the monster design. Still you managed to get through it with minimal giggling.

I know that actress playing the manager at the end (Kirsten Nelson) from her many seasons on Psych.

Yea not one of Buffy's best episodes..... But let's talk about Willow's journey. She finally understands what Tara went through. Someone using Magic on you without your consent is a violation no matter if it makes things feel good. Willow used magic on Tara to stop the fighting but in the long run it made things worse for them. Now she is on the opposite side. She is doing so well because even though she relapsed eventually she told buffy. Buffy on the other hand is still hiding her relapse with spike. Spike keeps being there when she is vulnerable and she continues to use him to distract herself but it makes things harder in the long run just like what Amy did to willow. We also have halfek (Anya's friend) coming in and putting doubts in Anya's mind about Xander and his tendencies to criticize Anya which is not helping anyone.

In a season that is my absolute favourite, this is the one episode in all of Buffy that I really can't stand. This is the one episode that I will only ever rewatch in full when someone is reacting to it, otherwise I tend to fast forward through the majority of it. I just cannot get on board with the way they depict, not just the fast food industry, but the worker's themselves. I get what they were trying to do with this episode, but to me it just ends up being insulting by depicting people who work in fast food as some sort of uncanny valley, mindless automatons. Is fast food the best industry to work in? No, not really. Does that mean that those who work in the fast food industry need to be depicted as a bunch of idiots? Of course not. This episode just really bugs me.

Dak, early on: "Is it bad that this is making me want a burger?" 10 minutes later: "🤢 Why am I not vegan?"

I like to think of this episode as an emotional plateau after a descent that started with Buffy's resurrection. In episode 10 things reached the bottom, then last episode they stabilised, and in this one they get used to being at the bottom. (Or, to put it another way: once you've been sad, the first step back from that is to be okay with the thought of being bored.) Next question is whether it's up, down or across from here. To borrow from what I'm currently rereading, until now it's been the stairs of Cirith Ungol and now it's the plains of Gorgoroth.

Ed Green

When I first watched the episode, I didn't really make the connection between the monster and what it looked like, later on I realised though. Also after watching The Boys and the guy with the 'love sausage'... it's even worse lol. This is definitely one of the lowest rated episodes by fans. In fact only 5 other episodes are rated lower on imdb - Teacher's Pet, I Robot You Jane, Bad Eggs, Where the Wild Things Are and Beer Bad.

Sharon Owen

This episode gets a bad rep, but I've always had a soft spot for it... which may or may not be because I was working up a "Fast Food Joint on the Hellmouth" fanfic idea at the time it aired. :-)
