The idea that someone so potentially close to actual power considers him an inspiration, that’s unsettling. Because he’s not weird, he’s a frickin’ nut. I think you guys are right about guys like him thinking that there’s this silent movement of people that believe they way they do, I hear it in the way they try to spin “values” into the core of the nation. (Spoiler alert, the founders values were concentrated to white male property owners, who agreed with with their position on England, lol.) I see the same flaw in their thinking as I do the inflated sense of importance twitter faithfuls place on the drama de jour, both the Drehers and the twits are extremely online. And because so many of those twits are journalist or the people that journalists turn to for content, they are able to stir up those who aren’t even on twitter at all. I constantly point this out along with the scant percentage of regular tweeters compared to world population and it’s like, no one needs to give a shit b/c what’s online doesn’t vibe with the majority of people. Same with Dreher et al. Because the feverishly scour the internet in order to compose their hot takes, and because they usual have a small but loud contingent of followers agreeing with everything they say, they extrapolate that to mankind entirely. (I can’t bring myself to call twitter “X”. It’s so ridiculous, lol.)

Trump was 70 and Biden was 78. At 60 on January 20, 2025, Kamala will actually be closer to Trump's age at his inauguration than to Barack or Bill at theirs. Is she "actively decaying live on national television" old? No, but... I've heard the line multiple times now that Kamala's getting the nod represents a transformative and meaningful passing of the torch to "the next generation" -- but Barack is only ~3 years older than her and became president going on 16 years ago. People who were 2 when he was elected can vote this year. Even if Kamala only serves one term, she'll still be older than Barack, Dubya, Bill, Jimmy, Gerald, Dick, and Lyndon all were when they finished theirs. I think having an actual corpse as president has skewed our perspective a bit.
