Premium 310: The Trial of Randy Timberlake (w/ special guest Sam Wallman)

Our buddy Sam Wallman has a new book out that we wanted to interview him about, but we quickly got a little derailed. Also the audio on this is a little too rough to be used as a regular episode. There are however some funny bits in it.

Please go buy Sam's book: https://www.amazon.com/12-Rules-Strife-Jeff-Sparrow/dp/1957363738

My thoughts exactly

This ep rocks, you gotta have Sam back again

They're contractors or artisans if anything. The means of production here aren't just microphones, computers, and editing software. It's also Patreon, which takes a cut of every dollar the Trillbillys earn through their labor.

GolfBaller

When people ask me what I do for a living, I just say I jack off elephants at the zoo. From there, the conversation is either going to end or get really interesting.

Vincent

Tom said “you don’t see a lot of people in disguises anymore”. That’s the idea buddy

Joseph Hughes

I’m glad we’re coming for Chomsky. I distinctly remember a video he did after Bernie dropped out where he basically invented the line about trump being a unique evil, like he’s some kind of lovecraft outer god and we all need to band together as one people to push back this repellent freak. Irl he’s just like… a more embarrassing, less competent republican.

Chapo has always branded nu metal as right wing

When Tom said, “DSA wash out” I peed a little from laughter.

auf die Welle

This episode ruled. Also the long first syllable thing is an Irish affect, maybe that's why it's a Kentucky thing.

Kevin Doyle

Re: Chomsky and human nature, there's a cheeky YouTube video that summarizes his famous debate with Foucault. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0dM6j7pzQA

hatin' in da holler

New weird field of human study just dropped on Trillbillies: frenulumology.

Relatively new to the patreon and just want to say your three perspectives on politics make me feel sane and I adore your goofy Tom and Terrance episodes. I’m sure I’m not alone on here that some day we need a bonus Bob Dylan episode, I literally joined patreon after hearing your Bob Dylan riffs 🤣. Love you guys and peace to everyone on here❤️

//Friday I think it's important - when you do a public, political demonstration - that you keep your message as opaque and ambiguous as possible. Going to - I dunno - the second or third in command at BP's house and harass him is way too A-to-B. People will just immediately see what you're getting at. "Oh yeah, this guy is responsible, and you don't like what he's doing. Got it." Now, going to Stonehenge and splashing paint on it? Now you got people talking. They're saying things like "what does this have to do with climate?" and "these people are crazy" and "What? Why?". It really gets the conversation - and more importantly, the mystery - rolling.

Jesper Ohlsson

the riff sam touched on is an alan watts snippet. "Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes." he was obv talking about a specific discipline/mindset but i think it honestly transcends. it's just about being present and being connected to divinity through the work you do on earth, for yourself and for others. not because you're being tested or because someone told you to, or because the work itself will necessarily provide you with a comparable "return-on-investment". but because the work must be done, and you feel that in your bones, and doing the work in and of itself is also spiritually fulfilling, even if it feels comparatively inconsequential. you know who would agree? them quakers 😤

Sam was a great guest! Would love to hear him on the show again

My Pap from Floyd County had a full Masonic funeral it was tight but he was also a state trooper so there were a hundred cops in the procession which was less cool

i see someone recalls their cushvlog lecture material 💯

You missed a real opportunity to label Chomsky as a cunning linguist in that opening bit.

Jomo's Bizarre Adventure

Stephen Hawking was at a barbeque on Little St James, which means that Epstein's island was probably ADA compliant, which means that it was woke, which means that it was bad. It could have been a real learning opportunity if he had been left to figure out how to traverse the sandy beaches alone with just the tiny, smooth wheels and remaining battery of his electric wheelchair. Maybe a lot of this mess could have been avoided if people weren't so quick to step in the way of other people learning the meaning of true grit and self-determination. ...by the time he made his way to the freight elevator going down to the sex dungeon, he might have had a "thanks, but this isn't for me anymore" revelation.

Jesper Ohlsson

Chomsky being invited over to Epstein house was just a big misunderstanding over the meaning of "Manufacturing Consent"

I hate to tell you all that tuberculosis is very much still around in the United States https://www.cdc.gov/tb/statistics/default.htm I work at a state public health lab and they get like 200 tb samples a week. We also got a plague sample earlier this year 😑

Triskaideka

Chompsky had a few hits but I will celebrate his death. I'm over the quirky bullshit. Kill me before I even discuss it.

I mean petite bougie is pretty unequivocally better than big bourgeois capitalists on average. They’re kind of a wild card. Regardless Engles was a big bougie fucker, sometimes people rock and are class traitors.

Matt Esparza

i too like talking job and work in general. its interesting to me. its how i learned there is a job where a guy goes around picking up dead stray dogs and cats for a lab. my friend did it in seattle, and i was surprised it was also here in st. louis. i also met a lady who was a librarian for six flags whos sole job was researching and cataloging scary shit for their annual halloween event.

daniel

You guys are not capitalists, you're the petit bourgeois. Is that better or worse? Only the time and the revolution will tell.

Bronagh M

Speaking of the free masons and the labor movement had me remember working in the steel mills up here in Northwest Indiana. Mason tattoos and Mason bumperstickers on those 60,000 dollar pick up trucks. Every now and then I would hear the Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns builds the casino and he becomes Howard Hughes. The germs on Smithers face say in unison "The freemasons run the country". Made me laugh everytime.

We have "lumpers" in the US. A lot of warehouses use lumpers to unload trailers. It's a weird system too because they work for neither the company that is receiving the load nor the trucking company but the truck driver/company pays them directly for unloading the truck.

Lucy McGillicuddy

Tom walked right up to the line of cancelation and said "oh hell no you don't."

Only the anti communist left gets real coverage in the west. Ask yourself why. Why Chomsky gets the notoriety he does and look where the “most famous western intellectual” has led “the left.” Read Parenti for intro stuff. The left in America needs leaders and intellectuals that embrace Marxism/Leninism not anarchism and vote blue no matter who if we want a chance at a future.

M

Chomsky got so old so quick because god took his youth for endorsing Joe Biden and being buddy buddy with Epstein… among other crimes. Unfortunately god had already planned the stroke out immediately post endorsement of Joe Biden, he didn’t have time to reverse course before he made up for it somewhat by opposing the NATO war against Russia in Ukraine. Maybe that’s why god let him survive the stroke?

Matt Esparza

I saw the name timberlake and hoped for a discussion of how Justin looked like the most from-tennessee man in history with those cuffs on.
