How I edit my audio to sound better.

Hi Jem! I'm very happy to hear the approval of an audio engineer, seeing as this is one of my biggest struggles in the technical department of video. Since the making of this tutorial I've actually changed my workflow a bit. I know also work with RX 11 to make use of it's more powerful DeEssers instead of Premiere's DeEsser and also the Mouth-declick tool which has cleaned up my voice overs noticeably. However I still feel like the audio is not 100% right so it's still a work in progress I suppose. But I'm pleased to hear that you approve of the workflow that my current one is still based on. :)

2026-02-17 00:33:37 +0000 UTCHi there! Happy to hear the video was helpful. :) For the music I mostly just use a lowpass filter to push the music into the background when I'm speaking. So to not distract from the voice over the music is lowered in volume and I add a lowpass in addition to that. And sometimes I'll use the "Studio Reverb" effect to make an outro with some reverb. Regarding how I choose my music: I just browse Epidemic Sound for things I like that I think will suit the vibe. Usually that's Bossa Nova, classical, piano, ambient Jazz or Bebop music. I'll spend a lot of time just listening to a lot of things and downloading everything that sounds like the vibe I'm going for. Also, if I'm looking for something specific, I'll ask the AI Assistant to speed up the search process. :)

Yes, while I'm showing you the techniques in Premiere, the tools are basic audio editing tools that are available in most programs that can edit audio. So an EQ for example is such a basic tool that most programs should have, though it might not be called "Parametric Equaliser" and instead be just "EQ" or something like that :)

2025-01-26 02:12:10 +0000 UTCHi Rob, glad this was helpful :) Yes, in a way there is. The first step is to apply the effects on the whole layer just like I did in the video, instead of applying the effect to every clip in the timeline. The second thing I do is to have a sort of "base project file" which is an almost empty Premiere Pro project file. All I have in there are the bins I always use (for footage, photos, audio etc.) and a timeline with the settings I always use. And in that timeline I already have the audio layer 1 set with the edits I showed you in the tutorial. So every time I begin a new project I just copy and paste the "base project file" and import my files in there so that I don't have to do the edits every time :)

2024-05-19 15:34:17 +0000 UTChi teo, great tutorial! was always amazed at the audio quality you have. i'm not you mentioned it, but is there was a way to save these settings like a "preset" so you don't have to do it every time i edit?
