Doug on Demand - Episode 36

Comments

The drummer from GWAR had to have therapy after decades of playing directly behind Oderus Urungus's ass....

Jeff Norman

PS I plan to actually listen as soon as I get the chance.

I missed the stream but when I looked at the list, it reminded me of that time GWAR opened for Alice Cooper. A wild blood bath was had by all! 😎🀘

Thanks so much...I'm making a change and doing today's Behind the Score on this piece...I can't help it!

Wow, some really interesting tunes there Doug! I'll leave aside the sacrilege of GWAR's rendition of "Wayward Son" (only kidding, that was fun), which I need to play to my 13 Yr old daughter, she'll love it. Great to hear FM, I sought them out after Ben Mink played violin on Rush's "Losing It". It was hard to get their albums back in the 80s, mail order import and trawling the racks at HMV in Oxford St, London were the only ways. Black Noise features Nash The Slash on violin instead of Mink, and is probably their most consistent album. Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin had a couple of early 80s hits, bit I never heard any later stuff by them. That was a dreamy tune. Loved some of that "new" proggy stuff...good to see bands flying the flag.

My first DoD and really enjoyed listening to music completely new to me, especially including The Mommyheads (checked them out on Spotify since and love their stuff!), and Jacob Collier was beautiful

My first DoD, my suggestion gets picked (after it fell through #recommend-vote), seeing Doug’s reaction, Megan moved to tears (among others)… it doesn’t get any better than that! With Doug’s choral background I suspected he might know this already - but seeing his reaction, bringing him so much joy after all that crap he had to endure lately, makes me very happy! Also, judging by the chat messages, touching the heartstrings of some more people with this wonderful song is even more than I could have wished for. Doug, what a joyfull reaction that was! It's a bit of a shame that in this recorded version your face cam is pretty small, and the video quality during these Zoom sessions isn't that great to begin with, so one can't fully see how much you enjoyed yourself there! At least during the live stream, I was able to switch your face cam to fullscreen to get the, well, full picture :)
