Extracting Strawberry DNA to make Massive Bubbles

In this video we're back to one of my favorite projects that I started playing with more than 10 years ago: making giant bubbles. A bit of a twist this time, trying strawberry DNA as a key ingredient. Thank you so much for your support! Let me know what you think of this one.

I'm waiting on a bunch of SLS in shipping right now. I've meant to come up with a bubble mix using it for consistency sake. Much better than trying to keep track of when detergents make ingredient changes

As far as I can tell you need a way lower concentration of higher chain length PEG/PEO for optimum results. We worked with PEG at the lab and thus we used small amounts of the old batches nobody wanted to use any more to improve our bubble solutions, and with the high molecular weight stuff my impression is that less is better, and better than more of the short chain PEG. (JLube is about 350g/mol) The soap makes a big difference, too, the best I found was sodium laureth sulfate. I buy the 30% solution of the technical grade stuff even for private use, which diluted to around 3% has similar cleaning efficiency and cost as normal dish soapfor common applications, but much better efficiency for cleaning optics (or even just windows), where mainly the thickening agents in normal dish soap are a problem (that's the trick for window cleaning solutions, plus ethanol or IPA for faster drying, and the lack of colouring makes the self made dilutions even better than the normal commercially available ones). Diluted to about 8% sodium laureth sulfate just foams like mad. And, as always, thanks for the video.

Probably would be easier for dunking if you mix it into a kiddy pool
