I had an expectation that this episode would be blocked on YouTube, but I just couldn't pass up Jimi Hendrix as a part of our Black History Month celebration. So, here's my reaction to Voodoo Child (Slight Return).
(Note that I heard the longer jam Voodoo Chile within the Fan Favorites Episode 3 video.)
Wow. Thank you! This music is great to share this way. It brings out the magic.

my first exposure to Hendrix at age 11 was a live version recorded in San Diego on an album called Hendrix in the West. I made my hair stand on end. I played it over and over again. Still one of my favorite artists.

If you check the Wikipedia article for Hendrix's Machine Gun [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_Gun_(Jimi_Hendrix_song) ] you'll read why it's one of his most important songs.
Written in 1970, and only performed live [with one strange exception], particularly the Fillmore East NY Eve shows as well as in Berkeley (which is available on DVD), he was speaking of Vietnam, of course. But then he says it's for all the fighters out there, on the streets, protesting injustice. Race riots. Middle East wars. The streets of South Central LA. Ukraine. It's all the same...

I wish engineers at that time did not pan a guitar right and left to create that wavy sense. My guitar amp does not move while I play it.
Stevie Ray Vaughn's cover (ferocious) has the song as Voodoo Chile, for what it's worth.

Maybe it's "Voodoo Chili", with an I. There's somethin' in this chili...
