Griffith r*ped Casca so that he could hurt Guts. Griffith didn't care about Casca.
But the reason he wanted to hurt Guts was to test himself. Griffith wanted to see if he would feel sad and guilty about doing this to his best friend.
And it turns out that Griffith felt nothing. No sadness, no anger, no guilt. He is finally free from his human emotions and nothing will ever stop him from achieving his dreams again.
And you can't get rid of the brand. It goes through the skin, muscle and bone. It goes all the way to their soul and brands their soul too.

If it makes you feel better, Griffith did all the wrong!!!!! I do not understand the people that say otherwise. I think they are just shit stirrers tbh.
The God Hand consider themselves to be angels. I feel that the angel/demon distinction is really for humans. I think in this world they are all just "things not on this plane of existence". Most people consider the Eclipse the roughest part of Berserk, I consider the aftermath to be the hardest. Casca is such a tragic character to have her mind ripped away like that. A complete break with reality that she cannot face even Guts, or any man. I have more to say about Guts and Casca, but I will wait till next week. We are slowly seeing how the Black Swordsman came to be. Until next week!! I think we are pretty close to starting a new arc.
Things I've not read or watched: Attack on Titan. For some reason, when it first came out, I watched the first three episodes and decided I didn't like it. I don't know why. I have tried to avoid it all these yrs. Maybe because it was so popular?? I have this strange thing where if something is really popular, I tend to avoid it like the plague!! I mean, it wormed its way into popular culture. I do need to read it to see what all the hub bub is about. So, it is on my reading list. As for One Piece, I read like 23-25 volumes of it and decided it wasn't for me. I really just wanted to find out who Tony Tony was. I then put it down and was like," Well, I'm done with that!" I thought I'd tough it out and read the whole thing.... nope. So right now, I'm reading something a bit lighter, QQ Sweeper. It's a shojo and its very cute. (But with dark elements) I seem to have a theme in my reading, I love romance that is tinged with darkness..... I don't know. Shojo I picked up but haven't read yet: The Poe Clan by Moto Hagio. Ive been collecting her stuff when it comes into publish here in English. One of my favorite stories from her is called, Iguana Girl. All her stuff is on the dark side as far as what I've read so far. She is fantastic!
