RECKLESS SYMPATHY: a horror/romance

Hey folks!

Hello to everyone who stuck around and people just checking my Patreon out! It's a new month, and time for me to finally start getting into detail about the game I'm working on. So, let me give you the pitch:

“Did you hear? The heir to the Vas Holy family refused another summons to the capital. Her mother must be burning up from the shame, the poor dear."

"Didn’t you know? They say the young miss Glory is so shy that she sleeps in all day to avoid guests. It must be so hard for her family, putting up with such unladylike behavior."

"Well, I’ve been told the Lady Vas Holy is set to bring on some new maid to mind her daughter. Hopefully for both their sake this helps the poor thing break out of her shell."

"Ah, dismissed by her previous master? The new Vas Holy maid? I had heard she had fallen ill and was given leave. How queer! Do you know any more?"

"Dead? Lady Vas Holy? An accident? Suicide?! How unbelievable! So close to her daughter’s birthday too. I can’t help but wonder if there was some kind of foul play…"

"Do you think it could have been that maid?"

"No, no, I think it was Glory.”

Reckless Sympathy is a game about three girls pinned together by increasingly dangerous shared secrets. It’s a romance about unhealthy relationship dynamics that get so out of hand they become deadly. It’s a story about ineffectually lashing out at the world. It’s about dangerous, uncontrolled curiosity; reckless, selfish sympathy; and self-annihilating admiration.

It’s about blood.

Well, with that, lets go over the main three characters!

Anmarie Uztempo is set to arrive at the Vas Holy manor a year after abruptly leaving her previous position. Newly hired as a personal retainer for the troubled heir to the family, she brushes off the scandalized whispers of the people around her with an unshakable sense of pragmatism.

Calm and capable. Though, some say under Anmarie’s dutiful air she’s conceited, a serving girl who thinks herself the equal of her betters.

Anmarie is the main character of Reckless Sympathy, and the story is told from her point of view.

Shy, shy Glory. Her name a common refrain in courtly gossip. The only heir to the venerable Vas Holy lineage, a young woman who’s stubborn antics were much cuter as a child. Lately though, the stories around her have taken a darker turn. They say nothing happens in the manor without her finding out. They say no one’s seen her in sunlight in years. They say she’s gone strange, like her late father.

Reticent and arrogant, nervous and domineering. Glory is a woman of contradictions, perhaps dangerously so.

Another maid in the service of the Vas Holy family. Kon was once an orphan raised at a monastery, leaving behind their original name as a sign of respect to the gods for their providence. A spot of light in the dim atmosphere of the Vas Holy manor, Kon is well liked by everyone, staff and visitors alike. In fact, Kon is the only servant the young Miss Glory relies on for assistance. Glory’s requests coupled with their regular duties keeps Kon busier than most, but they face every day with a smile regardless!

Cheerful and dedicated. But, in the shadow of Kon’s blinding sun lies a wistful sort of melancholia, in memoriam of something long since past.

That's all I got for now! I'll be making more posts about the characters and world of Reckless Sympathy as I finish stuff, and now that I finally have time I'm very close to finishing a little tiny demo snippet that I'll be posting on Patreon for everyone supporting at the $5 level.
