Part of the maintenance is to have the sensation transferred to your own throughout the day to 'feel' for any parts getting out of alignment. This also means you get to feel whatever your partner feels with that arm, even when they're away.

The AI now has a new chance at life, and the scavenger finally has a way to genuinely rest sometimes.
