Added 2021-03-02 08:37:06 +0000 UTCYesterday on my Instagram account I put up a poll asking whether people thought I should start an Onlyfans. I took it on face value that the people that voted yes wanted to see more erotic content that I can't share here, or on Youtube or Instagram. I was very intrigued by the people that voted no which was surprisingly around 25%.
There were several very valid concerns. The main one that I also share which has stopped me thus far, is the association that a platform like Onlyfans brings. As an adult gay male there is no doubt that I utilise and enjoy the kind of adult content on the platform but do I want my photography associated with it? On face value I consider my work at the more artistic end of the spectrum than the adult market (I'm not sure I can use the P word on Patreon).
It's no secret that I have long been intrigued by the exercise of blurring the line between erotica and art, even hard core erotica. That work can't be shared here and would I be able to find enough models to do that to support the added platform.
The extra platform is also a concern. While trying to build Patreon and provide direct sales through my website, do I want to take people away to another platform? People have limited budgets. There is also the ongoing concern of becoming focused on that work when I genuinely enjoy the content I'm creating already and don't want to scare models off who might think I expect the adult content of them.
I would love to hear from you, my supporters here on Patreon, and your thoughts on the subject. There are no wrong answers.
