ｰXIIIｰ下描きから完成まで/XIII - From drafting to completion

更新が遅くなってしまい申し訳ありません・・！

今回は、9月末に公開された大作「ｰXIIIｰ」の下描きから完成までの工程を

・ラフ1

の6段階にわけてご紹介します！

これらの工程はここだけでしか公開しない予定なので、是非お楽しみください！

This time, I would like to show you the process from the rough sketch to the completion of the big work "-XIII-" which was released at the end of September.

1．ラフ1(Rough 1)

まずは一段回目。

細かいところは描き込まず、大まかな構図とモチーフを決めていきます。

この段階を見ると、完成形のイラストが相当洗練されていることとがよくわかりますね！(自分で言う

This is the first step.

Without going into details, the rough composition and motifs are decided.

This stage clearly shows that the finished illustration is quite sophisticated! (I say to myself

2．ラフ2(Rough 2)

ラフ2です。

この時点で配置するモチーフや構図がほとんど確定します。

次の段階では、このラフ2を下敷きに線画を作成します！

Rough 2.

At this point, the motifs to be placed and the composition are almost finalized.

In the next stage, line drawings are created based on this rough sketch 2!

3．線画(Line drawing)

ここが一番の地獄です！心を無にして、ラフ2をなぞりながら形にしていきます。

ただ、この線画時点で時間をかければかけるほどその後の作業はスムーズに進みます。

This is the most hellish place! With a blank mind, I trace the rough 2 into shape.

However, the more time you spend at this point of line drawing, the smoother the rest of the work will go.

4．塗り1(Paint 1)

先程の線画の下のレイヤーにモノクロで塗っていきます。

僕は基本的にモノクロで塗ってからその後に着色していく「グリザイユ画法」で制作しています。この方法で制作すると、作品内の明暗のバランスが取りやすく非常に便利なのでおすすめです🔥

I paint in monochrome on the layer below the line drawing I have just created.

I basically use the "grisaille painting method," in which I paint in black and white and then add color. I recommend this method because it is very convenient for balancing light and dark in the work🔥

5．塗り2(Paint 2)

塗り込み開始です！

影やハイライトなどを追加し、立体感を出していきます。

もうこの時点で完成形はほぼ見えてますね！！

Start painting!

Add shadows, highlights, etc. to create a three-dimensional effect.

You can almost see the finished product at this point!

6．完成(Finished)

着色して完成です！

やはり色を乗せると華やかさが段違いですね👍

ただ色を乗せていくだけでなく、様々なフィルターを何重にもかけて色味を調整し、どの媒体で見ても最高に見えるように、PCとスマホとipadでデータを何十回も行き来させて色味を確認してきます。

この作業が非常に沼で、やり始めるとキリが無くなるので毎回ノイローゼになりそうです😇

The coloring is completed!

The coloring makes a huge difference to the gorgeousness of the image👍.

I not only add colors, but also adjust the color tones by applying various filters, and check the color tones by switching the data back and forth between my PC, smartphone, and iPad dozens of times to ensure that the colors look their best on any medium.

This process is very swampy and I feel neurotic every time I start doing it because there is no end to it😇.

という感じです！

ラフを描き始めてから作品の完成までの期間はおよそ2ヶ月です。(もちろんその2ヶ月この作品だけを作っていたわけではないですが)

もともとこの作品は過去最高傑作にすると意気込んで制作した作品でしたが、実際に「過去最高傑作」と言えるようなものに仕上がったと思います！

That's what it looks like!

It took about two months from the time I started drawing the rough sketch to the completion of the work. (Of course, I was not only working on this work for those two months.)

I was determined to make this work my best work ever, and I think it actually turned out to be "my best work ever!

また、このイラストのアレンジバージョンが、僕が行っているゴアガールの音楽プロジェクト「GORE-GIRL PROJECT」の1stシングル「XIII」のジャケットイラストにもなっています。

An arranged version of this illustration was also used as the jacket illustration for the first single "XIII" of my GORE-GIRL PROJECT, a music project for GORE-GIRL.
