Tex, please save voice. I hope Mike is feeling better. Best of luck with Traveller and the many other upcoming projects. Apologies if this seems political, but I seek your advice as a fellow firearms enthusiast. I live in VA, where anything larger than a .22 could be illegal in coming months. I know you've mentioned stockpiling parts for your various arms in the past. What would you consider a good list/number of spares, magazines, etc.? I understand if you don't want to answer. Didn't mean to rope you into anything. How I long to be on Van Zandt right now. I just want the government to stop taxing me and stay off my lawn!

Heard the most recent podcast and I have to push back on the Marines testing AI story. Not that it didn't happen, I think it did. But I remember reading that story around a decade ago. It's no longer viable information for measuring the present tech's ability. I work not-quite in the belly of the beast, maybe the left kidney of the beast, and things are progressing along. I honestly don't know what the current situation is because I'm hearing two different worlds and I know the popular position is anti-AI. Currently, the jury is out.

2026-02-18 01:50:17 +0000 UTCTex, Since you're always encouraging us to be creative, have you considered doing the real world lore behind the mechs in Battletech? Every mech had real people decide its purpose, background, design, etc. Some early mechs were repurposed from other companies and appeared in other media. For example, the Scorpion was once a Revell model kit and the Shadowhawk was featured in a two-issue comic by DC called "Robotech Defenders" both were from an anime called "Fang of the Sun Dougram". I'm sure there are some mechs whose real history is just as interesting as the lore history.

It was taught to me by my favorite leader I served under in the army. Taking care of your own is a good thing. Furthermore, I truly appreciate the world building idea for Traveller, and I am using it to create a system agnostic world with my party, as a means of trying to play something new. It has eased uncertainties that the group will not try another game system, and I feel free of the shackles of D&D for the first time in almost 10 years. I guess my question here is, how do I help players adjust to settings that only have Humans, or Human adjacent entities, over the flood of monstrous humanoids that they are accustomed to?

I find passion about the day job nearly non-existent outside of the people in my immediate team; it's wonderful to hear and see the passion come through in something that's not about the dollar. Or Euro. Or wherever the location redacted team is located. Stay the course, keep putting the inspiring content and keeping the flame that a job (over)done well is the reward itself. I'm already miffed at how difficult they've made intl. shipping for guys like Eldonius, so I'm hoping they don't mess things up for us over here as well. Now, I'm not much of a board or pen&paper RPG guy - that requires other people, and I'm too much of a recluse for that to work (I tried, I'm.. awkward) - but BT has had a place in my heart since the first MW games on PC, and between that, your Spessman antics and listening to how much fun you guys and others had with Traveler, supporting the mad ideas you all have is entirely worth it, if it means spreading that joy to other people - Lord knows the world could use it, and I intend to do my part in the limited ways I can. So you guys have at it. As for Discord, I mostly agree, though considering my 2009 est. personal facebook account got disabled because I refused to give them a copy of my ID, (because data leaks aren't a thing at all, and this non-essential service totally should have access to that) I might be a bit more cynical about it all.. Some of these 'services' seem entrenched to the point they can survive even that sort of self-immolation, which seems more than a little worrying. In that light, might I suggest Aux/BPL IRC servers instead, as a backup? I'd fire up mIRC again for that. (I jest... ... maybe) To leave on a positive note: YAY more Brazil UAD! I do love me some more metal boats. I've picked up on another interesting mod called 'Sovereignty of Molten Steel', which has done a SERIOUSLY impressive overhaul as well - though I'm a little worried about some of the flavor text occasionally seeming a bit... Party Approved History..? Have you looked at that one at all? Either way, take care of yourself *as well as the others*. (you know we'll keep saying it)

Most recent one was i warned my crew to keep track of the ship's payment cycle after the first reminder and to have some fun i had a little audio clip play i recorded in my best discount dan voice: " looks like you've missed a payment on your shiny new ship here at discount dan's discount emporium we understand tough financial times we're not evil, we're your discount friend. As a one time courtesy, we'll let you defer this payment and add the missed month onto the end of your loan Because here at Discount dan's I pride myself on being your discount man with the discount plan ``In really fast infomercial speech:`` you have agreed that Discount dan owns all the rights to the ship and the crew, including but not limited to the organs and bodyparts that the crew may have any and all credits in creditors savings, checkings, retirement and money market accounts upon death or dismemberment you have agreed to a 50,000 credit late fee that will be applied to the account with a 765% APR for the duration of the loan this is a legally binding contract, breathing the air of the ship is an agreement to this contract and shall be legally binding per the imperial seal of the imperial revenue service. Discount dan hopes you have a discount day " I dont have any intentions of tracking this its just for fun to make them regret buying their ship from him since everyone but the captain hated him in the ship lot. My crew has also had a few people that got wrote into the game since its started and i wanted to try a "breaking time" bit. I grabbed Jules and Vincent from pulp fiction and made them time police around the whole Ezekiel 25:17 bit in the movie. Whole lot of yelling at them doing my best samual l. jackson impersonation saying my newest player broke time messing with chronotons (futurama reference) and causing time skips. I've sent them completely across the galaxy while they were trying to return to Myndo Waterly to report back on the mission success. I'm causing a lot of worry for the player that Myndo is a contact of since he's been warning the crew that shes not a nice lady and has killed for less which i think is hilarious. But i have one hell of a plan in mind next session that i'll post an update on as well. Everytime i hear you chuckle reading these i get a desire to go that much more weird and outlandish which makes me laugh and want to play even more.
