Hey Tex, I heard Tank Knights, I'm excited. Can't wait to see what you come up with. In my head the artist who comes to mind for something like that is Tom Bloom, of Lancer and Kill 6 Billion Demons.

Tex, Save voice as needed. As someone who has enjoyed gaming for most of my life, I cannot help but notice that the vast majority of long-running IPs seem to decline in quality for one reason or another. Even Battletech had the Word of Blake era, though I agree with you that we should not blame the writers themselves when there was a mandate handed down from above them to force such a large change in such a short time. But then, this is one of the major problems that seems to happen: Something starts out great, gets big, then "business" people get involved in what was originally purely art and only care about "number go up" instead of what the original vision was and what the fanbase was there for. So my question is this: Do you think the fate of any art/IP, if it goes on long enough, is to inevitably get worse? Or do you think it is possible, with the right adherence to principles, for something to retain a high standard of quality in perpetuity? As an aside, I feel that the way you and your team do things is one way to avoid that decline: utterly refusing to engage in "number go up" motivations and just do the best work that you possibly can. But then, as long as we live in a society where people have bills, especially during a time when inflation and other factors are only making the cost of living rise faster, not everyone is able to have a day job that pays the bills and also devote themselves to the art free of profit obligations. Even small indie studios have to sell their games at a sufficient profit to continue operating. Short of a Star Trek future where everyone can pursue their passions free of a profit obligation, is there a workable solution?

When you mentioned the Zippo with a praise z0rg message on the side I got a hilarious mental image. I thought whatever little creative energy I had was all going into making mead. Enjoying Hired Steel and hoping everything is going reasonably well for you and the team. Happy Rotation around the Sun - hope you make it a decent one.

Zetam

Yeah Hired Steel keeps getting better and better every episode. I would never have found them with out you plugging them thank you

All Ones

Howdy there Tex. What sort of future contributions would benefit your vision for the BPL website? I think a gaming history tab could be monumental on its own. Take care everybody, gorgonzola cheese is indeed nasty.

Walt_Man

Happy birthday Tex, I hope you will have good day.

G’Day Tex I was watching Sven’s thesis on the Galtor campaign and I got to thinking. Since you know much more about the lore of the Succession Wars it seems you would be the best person to ask. Given the selection of leaders of the leaders of the great houses during to 4 major wars, gun to your head and you had to pick, who would be the most capable first lord among them? Just a thought experiment and I started reading on the available candidates and, there are some, “interesting”, choices.

Hey Tex, dnd story update. The mvps for the last two sessions were, in order; gravity, and a tree.

Hey Tex, consider your voice. I stabbed a friend in the back. It's funny to hold a knife and realize you completely unintentionally stabbed them. My campaign went completely sideways tonight. I had randomly rolled that one mech in the group (everyone has two characters) and target it with the EMP blast of a weaponized HPG station (cf the Null Set scenario pack.) The player was duly vaporized when his mech explodes, that player didn't like to see his character be taken out, but the other player behind him didn't take it so well. He's been depressive for a while and this Battletech campaign was a huge emotional investment for him. Let's say he was really upset by it being so unfair (there was no save or joker to play ...) What was meant to be a dramatic high note in a game may have lost somebody who was the heart and soul of this campaign. Somebody who really enjoyed the game, loves the universe, loves the mechs, the system, building new mechs, investing in it just like I did for all those years since I bought the Battletech Rules of Warfare and a the Marauder and Ostroc II model set and in a few words I completely ruined his game. I'm sending my players an email asking them how they want to proceed. If they want to proceed and how they see it. I take my role as GM seriously, I try to give my players a fun experience, challenge them, put them before difficult choices, but also tell a compelling story. But tonight I may have failed them and one player in particular. I stabbed a friend in the back and it sucks ...

Well, you being in it is *one* of the reasons to watch Hired Steel, Tex. The only person you show contempt for, Tex, is yourself. I posted Hired Steel to every social media platform I'm on, for whatever that's worth. Tex rejects modernity
