Ai hoshino

Short Story: The Stage Without an Audience

Ai Hoshino received a peculiar offer—a private photo shoot in a one-piece swimsuit. The documents listed only the date, time, and location, but there was no client name.

Though uneasy, she agreed, thinking it was probably a secret project typical of the entertainment industry.

---

On the day of the appointment, the car brought her to an old studio on the outskirts of town. The rusty iron doors screeched as they slid open. Inside, it was silent, except for the studio lights already set up and a single wooden chair in the middle of the room.

Ai clutched the bag holding her swimsuit, a sense of unease rising in her chest.

Suddenly—several men emerged from the shadows. The door slammed behind her with a clang.
“You’re here… our star,” one of them said, his voice cold.

---

Ai’s arms were yanked, her bag fell to the floor, revealing the one-piece swimsuit she had brought. Before she could react, she was forced onto the wooden chair, her wrists tied tightly to the backrest.

The studio lights blazed on, making her squint painfully. A camera on a tripod pointed directly at her, like a dark eye recording everything.

“Smile. An idol must always smile,” one of them ordered, pressing the shutter.

The sound echoed through the warehouse. The first photo was captured—not of her own will, but as a forced smile under a light that was never meant for the stage.
