ANNOUNCING THE EGGS FOR BART REMAKE AND FIRST BETA BUILD! (PATREON ONLY RELEASE)

Holy moly, here we are in 2025. Nearly SEVEN years after the original release. A lot has definitely occurred from then to now.. I was only 15 years old when I first released the game, and honestly? I peaked. Have never felt the same sense I felt when I spent hours on end watching everyone play my dumb little Simpsons game.

Since then, I've had a lot of life experiences, had a lot of failed projects, did a lot of learning. I think one of my main issues I've struggled with and one of the main reasons I haven't released anything since Eggs for Bart Chapter 3 is scope. In every project I've started, I always increased the scope way beyond the amount of work one person can accomplish within a reasonable amount of time. That and I over-polish way too much from the start and literal years pass and all I have is a bunch of spaghetti code and fancy graphics. That's why I decided to go back to my roots, where it all began.

The original Eggs for Bart took me 2 weeks to create, partly because the game is entirely comprised of reused game assets and a publicly available map I found on Roblox I converted for use in Unity. Pretty much only the code and the "story" was my own creation. This time, I plan on and have the skill to create everything in my own original vision.

This means the assets, the characters, the environment, will be completely unique to this game. In fact, I plan on removing it entirely from the Simpsons world with original characters, monster designs, twists, and LORE!? That's right. "Eggs for Bart Remake" is going to only be a working title. In a way I guess a better way to describe it would be a spiritual successor?

As for how far along into development this is, I think a collective total of the active time I've spent developing this game has to be nearing 6 months. I've designed an original house, original Homer-esq protagonist, and an original monster. Keep in mind everything here is a work in progress and won't reflect the final polish and quality that they will be in the final game, my plan this time is to make the game first, make sure all the bones are there for an enjoyable yet difficult experience, and then make it pretty.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, well that all sounds awesome and cool and epic. But can I SEE it? Pics or it didn't happen? Well my dear Fleebhead, I will do you one better. I have attached the very first PUBLIC BETA DEMO of the game to this very Patreon. You can PLAY it for yourself! Currently, the demo is restricted to gameplay only. No story content has been created yet, and as for the gameplay there are 2 levels available for you to play that will feel very. very. familiar.

Level 1 features the main antagonist of the game, "Eggoroth." As he roams around the house, you must collect the 12 eggs he has scattered across it and then escape. Unlike the original game, you can escape Eggoroth by either outrunning him, or hiding behind a wall or inside of a closet, as long as he doesn't see you hide there. Another added feature of this game is a more standard way of searching for the hidden eggs, and they will actually be visible inside of drawers and cabinets you open around the house, as opposed to mashing a button near a glowy area.

Level 2, accessible by pressing Escape and accessing the beta menu, features the added threat of the baby, who has a random chance of crying forcing you to flee to the nursery to sooth. Soothing now involves relighting a random number of candles that have extinguished around the baby, and when all are lit they will stop crying. In this game, the baby cannot directly end your game. However, Eggoroth will immediately know your exact location as he's able to hear you through the baby monitor you carry. He will slowly walk towards you, and after a certain amount of time if you don't sooth, he will full on chase you until you can relight all of the candles in the nursery.

As of right now, that is all that exists within the demo. Please keep in mind that gathering all 12 eggs and leaving the front door will not give you a win screen as that has not been implemented, but by accessing the debug menu you are able to freely swap between and reload the available levels as you wish.

Please read the provided README file in the .zip if you wish to record your gameplay of this demo. I fully endorse and encourage you to record your playthroughs, however you must follow and agree to all of the terms within the README before uploading any content associated with this private Patreon only demo. By downloading this paid content, you agree to follow all of the guidelines included within the README and will not redistribute, modify, or sell this software.

Also, give me feedback in the brand new Fleebscord Discord Server! Let me know what you think, suggestions are also welcome! I'd love to make my own little community! https://discord.gg/sR9MbTsJaK

That's all for this post, as for the frequency of how often I will post updates here I will try to at least once a month. Beta builds will be more scarce and will only release if substantial progress has been made to the game. If you've chosen to become a Patreon member, I sincerely appreciate you and I hope to have the full game released within the next year! My goal is to have a simultaneous Itch AND Steam release! For Patreon members, you will receive the full game FREE if you remain one up until the game's release. That's all for now, bye bye!
