Beauties, I'm currently working at full speed on the completion of the 2023 Christmas Orbit deck. It's always strange to have to get in the mood for Christmas in summer. :D As it is with every Orbit deck, unfortunately, I cannot reveal any details since it is up to Chris when he reveals something. But Chris has already announced it as one of the most beautiful Orbit decks. He might be right.
Anyway, with all the things that are going on right now I also wanted to share a few thoughts and details with you about the Muffin V2 deck.
The first edition got printed as an add-on deck for the Hotel V3 Kickstarter campaign in 2021. Muffin is a dog that I have taken very much to my heart. So I wanted to dedicate a deck to her. In a way, this is my way of expressing my feelings through my art. I originally wanted to keep 200 of 500 decks for myself, but since the interest in the deck was so much greater than I expected, I didn't want to deprive anyone of it.
WJPC is going to reprint 500 decks with a few design updates. Even if there is a chance to easily sell more than 500, that wouldn't feel right to me. I don't want to feel like I'm doing the deck just to make as much profit as possible. Maybe that's a stupid thought, because I also have to earn money to be able to live from something. But this thought haunts me in many of my decks that are particularly close to my heart.
I'm so happy with the vintage USPCC tuck box with the longer flap that you will soon be able to get your hands on thanks to the Pink BR Vintage Casino Playing Cards. That's why I want to use this box as well for the Muffin deck. Thus, the deck immediately differs from the first version on the outside. The inside of the tuck case will be pink instead of green like in the first version. Pink is simply a color that suits Muffin very much.
V2 will not have any other back color. The faces also remain almost all the same. At least at first glance. You know I couldn't in good conscience release a second edition without updating every single card. Probably the most noticeable change will be on the Ace of Spades.

V1 on the left and V2 on the right for comparison. I drew the version of V2 even before I created V1. In my artistic chaos, however, the first version got lost, so I had to redraw the Ace. In comparison, the posture in V1 looks so unnatural that I now find it difficult to find it beautiful. For this reason alone, a second print run is needed. :D
I don't know exactly when the deck will come out. But like V1 it would make a great add-on deck for the next Kickstarter campaign.
Feel free to let me know if you own the Muffin deck and if there is any interest at all in a second version on your part. In the end, nothing will stop me from printing this deck. But of course, it's nice to know when there's interest as well.
Much love
Daniel
