Beauties, this deck is nothing I have planned for this year but I wanted to share with you the idea. From all my Black Roses decks the Red Roses are probably my least favorite cards. That may sound worse than it is but one deck is always the least favorite.
The Red Roses idea was born when I did my first crowdfunding campaign in 2014 on Startnext (German crowdfunding website) for my first Black Roses Playing Cards . I only printed 8 or 10 Red Roses (can't even really remember) with MPC. I wanted to create a nice little bonus for those who have pledged more. We are talking about 39 backers who funded 938β¬ in around 40 days... So printing these 8-10 decks cost me a ton back then. Because of the history I liked the idea to bring this deck to life with USPCC. The Red Roses deck was technically the second deck after the Black Roses. That's why I called this deck Red Roses. When I did the Black Roses ImmergrΓΌn deck, I realized how stupid "Green Roses" would sound. So I called them Black Roses ImmergrΓΌn (Evergreen).
But why is it my least favorite deck? Somehow the red color is too bright. And I always thought if I do another Red Roses deck it needs to be darker. Maybe not even as dark as on the image but definitely a tone that goes more into scarlet.
I've redrawn the vintage court cards completely. I did this because I knew like that nobody could tell me it would be just a lazy recoloring. Oh boy, how naive of me. I know, I also I liked it back then but today I would make it look more modern. Simply because I don't like the thought that I did the vintage faces more to please other people. I also think the deck is more modern, even though it has a classic back design. There are also a few mistakes with overlapping layers on the court cards. I simply didn't know my program that well back then.
Thanks for reading and feel free to let me know what you think in the comments.
Much love
Daniel
