Black Roses Hotel V3

A few days ago I saw the Private Reserve Makers from Dan and Dave. This deck has MetalLuxe in combination with normal ink with the same distance like my Hotel deck. So of course I was wondering why USPCC can print this deck but not mine?

So with renewed hope I contacted USPCC again. This was their response:
"Ah yes it was done with MetalLuxe a while back but due to the issues we saw with decks that we were registering a foil to the print on we had to go ahead and update the rules for MetalLuxe as we just don’t want to put out in the market something we are not great at producing."

The Makers aren't even that old. So it's even more annoying for me to know that I'm simply too late since I had a lot plans with MetalLuxe and my 10 year anniversary Black Roses decks in a few years.

However, I talked to Hanson Chien two days about a few details how we can produce this deck. Besides cold foil on the back I thought about silver paper on the inside of the tuck. Just take a look at the image and imagine how great it will look in real life. Of course that is also a price question and I still don't know how expensive everything is going to be with cold foil. But right now I'm willing to pay quite a lot to make the inside silver.

Right now I'm also not really happy anymore with the "third edition" text on the side of the box. Technically yes, it is the third edition. But with all the silver foil everywhere it clearly stands out from the other editions. "Third edition" sounds like it doesn't do the deck justice. It could be almost a private reserve deck. I could simply remove it but then it makes no sense anymore why the editions are written on the first and second edition. So I probably keep it.

I think you should label it the “Schneider Cut”. Just saying…

Paul Stahly

Or “decade edition”

Nicholas Lloyd

You could always call it “anniversary edition”.....

Nicholas Lloyd

What about side of deck saying Foil Edition

Mike Elmer

I also don't like how it looks on all the other Orbit decks now :D

Everyone seems to be offering ideas on a solution to "Third Edition." So I took a glance at my collection- and of course Orbits stand out because they have the editions written as well. (You designed all/most of them. So there's no question why 🤣) BUT the 1st-7th decks are all "___ Edition," then the "V7 Parallel Edition" was the first to break that mold, and there's the "CC First Edition." So... first i was thinking to suggest removing the third entirely- and just labeling this deck the "Luxe Edition," but then I looked at the Orbits. Moises had suggested "Third Edition ML" and you said the ML would bother you. Would it bother you if you moved the ML? ML Third Edition I know the ML is for MetalLuxe, butnis there anything else that you could call it? Luxury Third Edition? (That's too long, butni think you get what I'm trying to say.

That’s also something I don't really know yet. But I would say if you just put one dot on the back or if the whole back is foiled - the price would be the same. I‘m pretty sure there are extra costs for foil on the backs AND faces. And foil on the box also costs extra of course.

Daniel Schneider

I'm curious, if we opt for foiling, is the price the same for different amounts of foiling used on the deck? Or is it like as long as we paid for the foiling, we can use as many or or little foiling we want without extra cost?

Daphnis Wang

If I keep the „third edition“ it also should look normal in a row with the other two decks that‘s why there is also no foil on the sides. Otherwise I would use foil everywhere on the tuck. 😃

You have to figure that little voice. It needs to make you happy first and foremost. Third edition on a background with some metallic line(s)

Moises Siperstein

For example "Third Edition ML" on the side of the tuck. "ML" would already disctract me. It‘s the lack of continuity that my ocd can‘t handle. :D Sounds cool and it makes sense but I don't want to see it on the tuck.

Daniel Schneider

Like the advertisement for coppertone sport

Moises Siperstein

The sentence “Third edition” and the word MetaLuxe overlapping?

Moises Siperstein

More text in which way?

Moises Siperstein

The 2nd Edition says “Second Edition”

Moises Siperstein

Really like the idea but I know I would like more text on the side of the tuck.

Daniel Schneider

What do you think on using a designation using number and quality: Third Edition ML. Like Apple designated their operating systems: OS X Tiger or OS Leopard

Moises Siperstein

Dan and Dave printed their Smoke and Mirror reprints with silver paper inside. I say paper because it isn‘t really foil. Or the Fort Noc tuck box. Just in silver instead of gold. Silver foil wouldn‘t make much sense because the ink would come off on the flaps when you open them over and over again. I know from gold that it is very reflective and that you can see the card so I guess same thing with silver. :D

Daniel Schneider

Hope it happens, will be gorgeous! What about “Suite” edition? Just to mix it up and be playful?

Thomas Sturges

I think it looks great, I do like the idea of the silver foil on the inside 🤔 would it be reflective enough so you might be able to see the bottom card in the reflection of it? 🤔

Martijn van de Kant

The “third edition” looks alright man love the look
