Gold Gilded Dondorf Playing Cards

As you already know from the Lavender's, I'm not the biggest fan of gilded decks, when the goal is to slap any fancy color onto the edges so that people are going to order it.
In my last campaign it was easily possible to create a few different gilded versions. But I still think silver was the only color that really fits to the Black Roses Lavender Playing Cards. For the Dondorf Playing Cards, gold gilded edges were the first idea that came into my mind to create a look and feel that is even more vintage. Silver also sounds like a very nice option again but I'll decide that spontaneously. This time I'll also create a numbered box set for two gilded decks.

Kickstarter has approved my Dondorf campaign yesterday and we could already start to collect followers for the project but I still wanna wait a few more days. I think we will lose momentum if we start it too early. The optimal condition would be to start the campaign when the Black Roses Lavender's are finished. However, it's possible that the Lavender's are still in the final steps of production when I launch the Dondorf deck at the beginning of June. But at least an end is in sight and both projects wouldn't cross each other somewhere in the middle.

Let me know what you think about the gold gilded Dondorf deck or gilded decks in general in the comments. And please let me know if an unfinished / unfulfilled deck would keep you from supporting the next one.

Much love

Daniel

I'm the same way with gilded decks, some pull it off, others no. However, the gold for Dondorf looks really good and really adds nice luxurious accent to it!

I have mixed feeling regarding gilding. It is good to give a vintage effect but as Shashin says usability is decreased. I think silver would look better than the gold as it would look good with the lighter colour on the deck.

I like gilding personally, I don’t know that I’d buy this deck gilded but I’m sure many would. With the brand track record I don’t think launching before completed fulfillment is necessarily bad. Like another commenter said it is rampant in card community and bothers me to the point of not backing with new creators, but established ones I tend to accept easier so wouldn’t bother me in your case. Rock it out mate!

The gold gilding looking beautiful on the Dondorfs! I don’t use gilded decks, but they’re great display pieces in the collection.

as for launching a Kickstarter before the pervious one is fullfilled...that is one of my pet peeves with the card world. I know things are so slow with Covid, but that should not be happening......there are a few cases where I think it is okay to do a new campaign while waiting for the previous one to be sent out, and that is for people who do Kickstarters often and have a proven track record, which in your case, you do. So...no issues with you launching before Lavender is shipped

I don't care for gilded decks, but will buy them here and there.

Love that gold gilded. I will buy but not to use, just to collect😬

Go ahead and start the campaign, shouldn’t be a problem. As far as the gilded cards go, I do like how they look but probably wouldn’t use since I would hate to ruin them. But very beautiful indeed

Personally, I like the look of gilding but rarely purchase gulded decks anymore because I always feel like their usability is decreased. However, the gold does look really classy, and it really does bring out that vintage feel even more- I also don't see any problem with one project starting during the others fulfillment.

ShashinMasuta

This looks really nice. Kind of a vintage feel to it which I like.

It would not bother me if the new campaign was launched before the Lavenders are fulfilled. You have a pretty good track record, lol. I generally don't go big for gilded decks, but I'm a Black Roses completist...just missing that great white whale...

Thedmo Pink

I'm biased (I'm a sucker for gilded decks) but I think the gold Dondorf looks tasteful and I wouldn't hesitate to back the new campaign before the last campaign is finished.
