I've received this email from the printing company about the Innocence reprint:
"Prepress is working on this and wanted to know โ what changed on the faces since last time? Did only the courts change?
If we can pick up the A-10 or more from the previous run that will save them a lot of time. Can you maybe tell me which cards have changed since last print?"
You know I put a lot time into every little detail. And it looks like that the redesigns in the new Innocence deck are so small that not even the prepress could tell what the differences are.
You need to know that USPCC charge "artwork costs".
Black Roses Blue Magic Edition as an example:
Custom back: $110
Custom Tuck: $160
Custom Faces: $600
$600 only to bring all the cards that I have already designed in place...
The Innocence deck has the same back design and tuck so I don't think they will charge again for it. Maybe for the tuck since it needs to get placed on a differnet template for the matte box. But even the changes on the face cards are so minimal that probably only I can see them on the first and second glance. And I could have said yes, just use the old files but I know I wouldn't be happy with the result. What is the solution to be happy? Exactly.. Paying $600 again to bring the new cards in place.
Eight decks of mine are currently in production. It's insane how much more that is to pay for all the face cards which actually look like standard faces.
So not only design-wise it's a reason to appreciate every fully custom deck more than a deck with just another Ace of Spades and two different Jokers.
Thanks for reading.
I created a new landing page yesterday - check it out:
