I'm absolutely fascinated by the history of the Dondorf Playing Card company.
In 1918/1919 they sold over 9 million decks (!) and it seems like nobody really knows a lot about them anymore.

2 years ago I found this back design. It didn't exist in poker size so I redesigned it to fit on a poker card. This back design must be from the 1890s. It's hard to say the exact year and sadly it's impossible to say who has drawn it. I bought 2 Dondorf decks from ebay to redesign a complete deck. I also vectorized the Dondorf logo which doesn't even exist online in a good quality. I've really spent a lot hour to bring back a piece of history.
They copied the "Amercian court cards" for a project. So the back and the face cards on my image aren't actually from the same deck. But those courts are quite fascinating. They copied a lot details from the courts that we know as standard court cards today. So they look familiar but at the same it's still unique.
Dondorf was taken over in 1933 by ASS Altenburger - a German playing card company which was taken over in 2002 by Cartamundi! I thought that is a really nice reason to reprint the cards with them. But since Cartamundi also own USPCC now there is no reason anymore not to choose USPCC.
One reason why I didn't release the deck yet is because I really want to have the original tuck box design. Those details are expensive and of course I also want that this deck gets enough attention.
As soon I feel more comfortable to print them you'll know it first.
