seriously considering a drastic career change

Since wee it’s always been a choice between the Army or Police. I want to be doing something with my life were I feel needed and making a change. Anyone on here got any anecdotal stories about either or perhaps are or know someone within these professions?

You could join the police and have sgt Nicholas angel as your hero

My family all serve navy, and they love it, the only thing that kept we out was my eyesight being too bad, deffo worth a shot in the reserves first maybe

Sebastien Louis

I know a cop & he loves it. No two days are the same and he gets a great reward out of helping vulnerable people out and seeing their lives change. Obviously the conflict is challenging and some days are tougher than others but that’s part of the job!

I’m ex sas and commander of the naval fleet SS titties, go for it Ailish

Ben

Why not join the territorial army first? A bit less initial commitment but would give you an idea if it’s right for you

GoffeeCrisp

Secondary School Teacher here, hard work but genuinely feel like you’re making a difference every day, both in terms of the kids’ knowledge and day to day lives - absolutely love it!

Ailish, I would join the RAF. You would be an excellent soldier. Commit to it. Do it with a full heart and it will work out. You have the courage and determination and strength to do it. I’m bloody proud of you.

Might I suggest onlyfans? We're all ready to part with our money for you 😂

Might I suggest I career in emergency services. I enjoy every minute while also helping my community

Youd be better off in the Royal Navy or RAF, the way the world is going im gonna feel sorry for all the frontline squaddies

I’ve always wanted to be either on account of my dad being in the army - I’m trying to get something sustainable in media it’s just proving difficult

That’s why I wanted to hear what you guys thought, it’s a scary world and it’s only getting scarier. I’ve often thought of that, I have a friend that is and I know it’s extremely fulfilling x

Avoid the army, rich people are probably gonna send a load into the meat grinder soon. Also not sure the police is a good way to stay sane. What about paramedic?

Prothero

No experience, other than sometimes a full career switch can be a refreshing move. Also two very inspiring choices - good luck with whatever you choose to do!

Police and army don’t seem suitable. Surely something in media

Pat

OF would be a drastic career change

I applied for the MET last year. Jumped through all the preliminary hoops. Got invited to do the Fitness & DNA day at the station. Had a full checklist of stuff to do during my time there. Passed everything and then they took 14 months to accumulate enough people to finally invite us all back. By that time I committed to another job as I couldn’t stay at my old one any longer. I regret not following it up as I have multiple friends who work for the MET. Benefits are good, pays not bad and room for progression seems decent. However social time takes a massive hit, so if that’s important to you then it’s a serious thing to think about! Hope this helps, apologies for the essay 🤣

Can answer any questions about the latter

Josh Edwards

Why not an English teacher? You'd make a phenomenal contribution there 😍

Henrik

Got plenty of anecdotes and personal experience in the former if you want to chat about it :)

Lew

Give it a rest, she’s asking about career advice and that’s all you can think about. Sort yourself out
