When she’s not dueling in the Court of Fontaine, Clorinde sneaks away to night swims at the pool, where no one can disturb her. But one evening, her routine takes a turn she never expected.

While she was alone in the locker room, she notices something strange. Her toes press together, soft skin tightening as thin strands of webbing stretch between them. The sensation makes her stumble. Shocked, she steadies herself against the cold tiles, only for the changes to spread further.

Shimmering scales begin to emerge, small and delicate at first, then multiplying rapidly across her ankles. They glint faintly under the fluorescent lights, climbing up her calves in a wave she can’t escape. Each patch of skin tingles, the texture becoming smooth, slick, and unfamiliar.

Her breath quickens as the scales creep higher, wrapping around her thighs, then her hips. A low ache builds in her legs, an ache that soon becomes unbearable as her knees lock together. She bites back a cry, her stoic nature refusing to give in to the pain. Her legs press tighter and tighter until they begin to fuse, skin reshaping, bones shifting, a tail forming where her legs once were.

Clorinde collapses to the floor, tears welling in her eyes. What used to be her feet is now a wide, graceful fin that sweeps against the locker room tiles with a soft, wet sound.

At last, the transformation ends. The duelist of Fontaine is gone, replaced by something haunting and beautiful. Clorinde is now the stoic mermaid of Fontaine. 💙

フォンテーヌ宮廷での決闘をしていない時は、誰にも邪魔されないプールで夜遊びに興じるクロリンデ。しかしある晩、彼女の日課は思いもよらぬ方向へと転じる。

ロッカールームで一人きりになったクロリンデは、異変に気づく。つま先が押し合わされ、柔らかい肌が引き締まり、その間に細い水かきのような糸が伸びる。その感覚に彼女はよろめく。驚きながら冷たいタイルに体を支えようとするが、変化はさらに広がっていく。

きらめく鱗が現れ始める。最初は小さく繊細な鱗だったが、足首には急速に増殖していく。蛍光灯の下でかすかに輝き、ふくらはぎを登っていく。逃れられない波のように。皮膚が一つ一つチクチクと痛み、その質感は滑らかでツルツルと、見慣れないものへと変わっていく。

鱗が徐々に高く伸び、太もも、そして腰へと巻き付いていくにつれ、彼女の息は荒くなる。脚に鈍い痛みがこみ上げ、膝が絡み合うほどの痛みは耐え難いものとなった。彼女は叫び声をこらえたが、その冷静さは痛みに屈することを拒んだ。脚は次第に強く締め付けられ、ついには癒着し始め、皮膚が変形し、骨がずれ、脚があった場所に尻尾が形作られる。

クロリンデは床に崩れ落ち、目に涙が浮かんだ。かつて彼女の足だったものは、今や幅広で優雅なヒレとなり、ロッカールームのタイルを柔らかく湿った音を立てて撫でる。

ついに変身は終わった。フォンテーヌの決闘者は消え、忘れがたい美しい何かが取って代わった。クロリンデは今や、フォンテーヌのストイックな人魚だった。💙
