So yeah there you have it. I don't think I can convince anyone of anything with any single comment, however I will say this: ADHD is effectively a medicalized personality type. People who previously might have been described as having impulsive, or having problems with delaying gratification, or being chronic daydreamers. Methylphenidate is a performance-enhancing drug that is allowed to be prescribed because there is a corresponding "ailment" to treat. I'm not saying ADHD is invalid, or that taking a modern drug to treat it is "cheating." I like to think that the modern era, with the internet and television and games and all the other endless vices we have on tap, bring out the worst of people who have the tendencies that comprise ADHD. However, I'm not entirely convinced that medication is needed to treat it. It certainly shouldn't be considered a front-line treatment anyway. If you give it a shot, don't feel pressured to keep taking it. And don't be afraid to ask your prescriber for a smaller dose or something either. And lastly from me, try getting exercise and eating well if you aren't already. There are no negative side effects to doing that.

So methylphenidate will kill your appetite. This synchronizes terribly considering the drug itself basically makes you want to expend more energy. Ergo you need to consciously force yourself to eat. You will also feel really tired after the effects wear off. It is not a magic cure, essentially you will be in a train of thought for its duration. No absent mindedness, no listlessly doing nothing. The thing is this train of thought can be about anything. Multiple times I took it and instead of being productive I just played Victoria 2 or somesuch for 6 hours straight. You might get this kind of high, where you feel like everything is going great and you're accomplishing things, even if you're just browsing the internet at turbo speed. You might also feel relaxed or really fucking anxious depending on what stage your at. I believe this has to do with how much of an empty stomach you have and how dependent you've become but I stopped taking it before I could get to the bottom of it. To segue, I stopped taking it because when it wears off you crash, you feel sleepy and slow. You start to notice you feel empty in the mornings before you take it, and if you don't take it (which you shouldn't every few weeks to avoid tolerance), that empty depressive feelings stays and worsens, along with feeling sluggish.

I havent even played video games for years. Then my best friend recommended one of your videos so I'll never need vidya again and can just watch you whenever i need a weapons-grade dose of adrenaline and autism. Thank you and take care Sseth.
