A massive, central chamber of both brick masonry and natural limestone is connected by a series of caverns and constructed rooms alike. Staircases ascend to the north and west, with a set of fully-furnished living spaces on opposing sides in the hall along the western stairs, and a third winding stairway leading deeper below. While a series of statues depicting mythological creatures flank the checkerboard tile walkway and lit braziers rest at their feet, the lower chambers are otherwise left conspicuously empty. Some urns, storage crates, and firewood can be found on higher ground in the natural passages, and a passing glance reveals a conspicuous water mark several feet high along many of the dungeon's walls. As you hear water trickling from the northwest caverns, it becomes clear this area may be prone to flooding.
Hey all. this phased map is sort of the spiritual successor to one of my favorite older releases, the Flooding Temple.
Some stylistic elements of my work have evolved and been refined a bit since then so I didn't feel it would be the best course to try and make this map connect seamlessly to the old one like the different levels of my Megadungeon or Modular Dungeon series are designed to, but I did want to make something that would be a good thematic fit and could still be used in junction as part of a larger encounter. If I were to use this map in one of my own games, I'd probably have the party fight and explore their way through here and to the Flooding Temple map, run a boss encounter there, and then commence the flood phases. Once the party successfully flees from the rushing water in the dungeon, water pressure from the flood triggers a surge to rush from the spring in the northwest chambers and the group is again forced into a dramatic retreat as they backtrack through the dungeon.
As with the Flooding Temple, the variants for this release include floods of different sorts, be they blood, magma, or "muck" (poison, vomit, acid? Your call) and they correspond with the same tier structure for the sake of consistency.
