I've been a little quiet about the Damsels project lately, and it's because it's been going through some changes that are of more interest from a programming point of view than from a players. Basically, I decided that the way I had it set up would make it too hard to deliver executables to my patrons. I explored converting the project to Unity, but in the end I decided that I would be able to produce a higher quality product by going back to Ren'py. I've now converted the project over and have it working again, and I think the conversion has resulted in numerous improvements and relatively few compromises. There are some cut-scenes where it will look like a Ren'py game. There are lots of places where it won't, and discovering how to do that has been challenging and educational.
The game could be released now, but there are improvements I'd like to make before I do that, and then a debugging process on those improvements. I want to add a few more combat options. I want to add a tutorial. There's some story to be developed that I'd like to have make it into version 0.1, even though it doesn't affect game play much. Given that I have something that works, I'm setting a deadline for myself that I will release before New Year's.
