Can You Upload Your Mind & Live Forever? feat. Cyberpunk 2077
Added 2020-12-10 15:01:01 +0000 UTC
The desire to be free from the limits of the human experience is as old as our first stories. We exist in an endless universe, only bound by the laws of physics and yet, our consciousness is trapped in mortal machines made of meat. With the breathtaking explosion of innovation and progress, for the first time the concept of leaving our flesh piles behind and uploading our minds into a digital utopia seems possible. Even like the logical next step on our evolutionary ladder.
Inspiring!

Late bird, but I was enjoying Cyberpunk, and then I noticed this video, and thought to myself how awesome that is, CD Project Red did something similar, and when I heard this was a collaboration, I was completely filled with joy, for you two working together!

Why upload maybe we can install chip in brains that would collect information with the time

Don't be so grumpy. The content was well worth it and they do receive sponsor money from other sources as well (skillshare, audible, etc)

It was kinda touched upon in the Kardashev Scale video, with the type omega civilization, but they didn't really go into depth on it

So when is the video coming out on the simulation argument? Or have I missed that one already?

"The brain is the most complex biological structure known and deserves it's own entire video"
Knowing their videos one knows what it means if they say that

Nice, but, how do you cut 1 mm of meat into 25k slices? Guessing you don’t really cut it with a knife of sorts. How do you nondestructively do that?

As soon as I got the Kurzgesagt notification on my phone I just had to watch it. This has been a fantasy of mine for years. I doubt we could do this, maybe.... But I think a better alternative would be to just keep our brains alive indefinitely. So, this 3lb chunk of meet in our skull just needs a few basic things right? Water, oxygen, nutrients. We can stick this meatwad in an android robot and everything is mechanical and would last for centuries as long as our brains can survive. This is where stem cell research comes in. We are closer to this scenario, as we already can grow new bladders, ears, etc. (Did you see a while back they grew a human ear on the back of a mouse?!) Anyways, this seems more plausible. Except you wouldn't be able to beam a 3lb cake to other star systems like you could digitally if we could copy our brain, since we would essentially be traveling at the speed of light. This brings up another issue in that we would initially need to have a robot or human travel to the other star system FIRST in order to install the receiver to capture and collect our digital brains. Great video guys!! Keep em coming 😁

This really felt like watching a commercial. An informative and interesting one, but a commercial nevertheless. I really hope that patreons aren't going to be billed for this.

Life is flawed, and that's what makes us who we are - the pursuit of perfection and the struggle is the beginning, middle, and end. Just live and enjoy yourself, you are only here a short time ;)

This is the transporter paradox, and there's no good answer, so just pick the one that helps you sleep at night.

This is one of your videos that makes me think, wow I'm happy I support these content creators. Not that others aren't great, some topics just click better with my cumulated experience. Grad job on this one!

I've tingled my imagination with this idea for quite a long time now, and I found a huge problem that I'm not able to answer: what if we can do everything is said in the video, and we can "upload" our self, either in the net or in another body, how do we know that we are not just making a copy of us, basically killing the previous self? we would never be able to tell since if we ask the "new us" it will tell ofc it's us, he remembers being in the body and after the operation, he's transferred, but is our consciousness transferred? will it be like closing our eyes in a body and re-open them in the other body? or we close our eyes and...never wake up because the "new" us is just a copy?

they say it right at the beginning "CD projekt red a year ago asked us if we wanted to make a video on that" I think it implied it has been sponsored by them :D

was this video sponsored by the cyberpunk developers? You didn't say it was, but it really feels like that. Great video tho :)
