incoming new rule for monthly drawings (a heads-up)

hey! awkward to be posting this on the heels of losing a handful of pledges but i think i have to do it so i can balance my output better

this has been a long time coming, and it’s not going to matter for most of you because i’d say almost everyone is already doing this for the mostpart, but i do have to impose a new rule about the monthly drawings as we move into 2022. as much fun as these are for me, i do need to make returns while balancing out my other work. oftentimes these drawings can become more time consuming than i originally intended for them to be, with stuff like backgrounds and complex props— the most time-consuming addition, though, is a second character. these are drawings that are meant to be completed individually in less than an hour, including sketching and planning, so they are priced accordingly; however, adding a second character to an images doubles the labor time.

to put it in perspective, no matter the complexity of your single-character idea, i promise that drawing two characters doing anything is substantially more time-consuming!!

SO, unless we have worked out a deal in the way of tipping, i would like to ask that if you want two characters in an image, you reserve your drawing for either the month after or the month before. for example, if you really wanted me to draw you and your partner’s character in february, you would either skip a drawing for march or april, or we can negotiate a tip/additional pledge for that month so that the amount of time is proportionate to the amount of labor. i am thinking in the ballpark of anywhere from $5-$15 depending on complexity. or, if you wanted to combine a request with another patron so that i draw both your characters in the same image, that image will count for both of you for that month. most of you are already doing this. but does this make sense? i think that in the same vein, it’d be fine for you to request two characters in one image if you accidentally miss the previous month!

if this rule makes the prospect of being my VIG patron no longer worth the cost for you, i won’t be offended; i understand that this is not ideal. but i would like to level the playing field for everyone, including myself, even if that means cutting some losses in the short term. i really appreciate all of you, and i want to continue making stuff for everyone here to enjoy— part of doing that is managing my time in a way that makes sense, because as it stands, i do not have the time i’d like to have for other patreon content. the monthlies consume all my patreon energy and i end up not getting enough stuff done for the other tiers. hopefully this being a firmer rule will allow me a little more leeway so i can bring all of you a bit more content for 2022!

with this out of the way, i’m gonna go ahead and post november’s drawings now. sorry for the delay! it felt important to write this out before sharing the submission link. if you went out of order and you’re somehow reading this after submitting a prompt, dw about it, i’m only gonna start enforcing it meaningfully in 2022. again, i am really sorry, and i love you all as well as your characters. i'm really happy to have you here no matter what
