The bell tolls to mark the passing hours, ringing out a clear tone to set the pace of life in the valley. Local legend regards the statues with reverence, suggesting they will awaken to defend their home should the bell ever sound in warning. Hogwash to be sure, but it's hard to deny their grandeur.
