May Release Schedule

Hello patrons,

Thanks so much for all your feedback on the recent poll. I've got another one coming soon to determine next month's boss monster map.

While there was some interest in seeing some different kinds of content on here, it's pretty clear that by and large you all want more maps, and specifically some more dungeon and interior scenes, so that's what I am going to make. I might still occasionally branch out if I've got a creative itch that needs scratching, but I am going to keep the focus on cartography as my core content, and I'm going to aim for something closer to a 50-50 split between exterior and interior scenes.

Outside of RPGs and the fantasy/sci-fi media I consume, most of my hobbies center around outdoor activity. I draw pretty heavily upon nature for inspiration when making art, which I think subconsciously steers me towards exterior scenes. I'm still going to keep those coming, because frankly I love making them and I believe they are still useful in play, but I am also a GM and am aware of their limitations. I completely understand how much more mileage one can get from even a modestly-sized dungeon map than a big set piece, especially when that set piece is pretty specific (like say a dead god, magic tree, or enchanted portal). With that said, I am going to commit to ensuring at least one interior map per month follows the 5 room dungeon format, so you can build multiple encounters into a single map and get more use from these in play.

Now that I've got the bandwidth to deliver more regular content for you all, I want to start building a little more structure into my releases, both to provide you consistency and to hold myself accountable to delivering it.

So with that said, here is a rough outline of my projects for the next month:

For several months I've consistently received a few votes for "Warlock's Ritual Chamber" on the boss monster map poll. I've decided I am going to use that idea as a baseline but design a dungeon including the warlock's ritual chamber as the final room. I'll be releasing a few tokens for CR 5 and above patrons, just as a little extra. No progress to share on this one yet since we're still in the early stages.

So this one is a private commission I am doing, under the condition that I am able to share this work with all of you. As always, I am creating variants and there will be a Foundry VTT module. If anything, this will be a larger release than usual. This piece is inspired by the House on Gryphon Hill, the second AD&D adventure to take place in the Ravenloft setting, and am releasing it at this time to pair with WotC's release of Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft on May 18th. The map includes five floors and will be my biggest structure map to date!

I've been working on this one for a while, so I have quite a bit of progress to share.

Rather than collaborating with McRoMusic for this month's boss monster map, I'm joining him as well as two other creators (Jan Loos and Instant Encounters) to release a patron exclusive adventure including 4 separate encounter maps with original tokens and audio tracks. Things are warming up here in the northern hemisphere, but as I prepare to run Rime of the Frostmaiden in my home campaign, I must admit a sense of eagerness to put out some extra cold-weather content.  In addition to the collaboration content, I'll be releasing variant maps of each scenario that should serve as versatile random encounter maps for a range of biomes.

Here's a sneak peek at some progress I have made for one of the encounters:

I don't want to spam you with multiple posts in a single day, so I'll get back to you later this weekend with May's Boss Monster Map Poll. I've really enjoyed what you all have chosen for me to create thus far and I can't wait to see what you choose this month. If you have any suggestions for something you'd like to see on the poll, feel free to DM me here, in Discord, or in the comments below.
