“Whoops-a-daisy,” Peter says with mock-sadness, picking up the glass but not in time to save the liquid from pooling and then seeping into the carpet.
In ordinary circumstances, Peter would feel pity Jackie’s reduced state, her helpless condition. He’s seen it so many times before.
Written in 2012, commissioned and imagined by MaskedMan, The Blame Game is the second to feature Jackie, Parkdale’s all-around big-hitting teen agent menace, as well as an appearance from Mrs Bennett.
Ah, Jackie, a merciless talent. She deserves her place on Parkdale’s Hall of Fame. I enjoyed seeing how much she would get away with almost as much as I enjoyed seeing her fall.
Does she fall in this tale? For a time, it seems as though she will, but no spoilers. I like all the tales in the Jackie series, but I think this one has a particular bite, and it’s quite unlike other tales I was writing at the time.
