From the Wikipedia: The forest scenes for the episode were filmed at Harriman State Park in New York after the production team was denied a permit to film in New Jersey at the South Mountain Reservation. Essex County executive James Treffinger said The Sopranos "depicts an ethnic group in stereotypical fashion".

Such a fun ep, but the F if that was really the Pine Barrens. As a Jersey native who never left, I know what the Pine Barrens are like. Hardly any of those trees were pine. And it's very FLAT there; that place wasn't so much. It looked, as one of you said, very Appalachian and the Pine Barrens are FAR from the Appalachian part of New Jersey (basically opposite end of the state). Whatevs... It's a TV show!
On another note, Paulie should never go out in the woods. Poison ivy yesterday, frostbite today lol ð Oh Paulie Walnuts. . . .

Early days of household cordless phones had crappy antennas and would often pick up interference from your neighbors calls, sometimes pretty damn clearly too.
Also, Tonyâs reaction to Bobbyâs Elmer Fudd outfit was genuine. That was his first time seeing him while filming and it wound up being the take they used.
Edited to add: I may be misremembering, but I believe the actor that plays Bobby said he wanted to make James Gandolfini laugh so he wore a strap on dildo when he walked in the shot.
