I think Shelly's thinking (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong) is that someone is pretending to be the Cylon God in order to cause them to attack the humans after 40 years of armistice. I will not place any comment on this line of thought at this time.

2025-09-13 17:21:33 +0000 UTCThe short answer for what is motivating the Cylons is actually there from the beginning, where she comes out and says that God told them to attack. (The original series had a non-human origin for the Cylons which was entirely scrapped in the reboot.)
